The thing is, Ditka really is just trolling. He doesn’t have any purpose in posting to the board other than parroting Trump talking points.
Some of the other right wing jerks are at least trying to engage in a conversation, but Ditka is a waste of space. And also an apologist for terrorism, so he’s got that going for him.
Every time I’m tempted to lay into him, I pull back because I realize there’s no point. He’s not worth engaging, because he’s a one-man spam botnet, not a human being.
I’m not particularly in favor of getting anyone banned. But common sense says that if no one replies or reacts to obnoxious/offensive/outrageous posts, the posters will eventually get bored with the lack of reaction. If you read the obnoxious/offensive/outrageous posts, it’s a supreme test of willpower to resist a comeback. That’s why [del]God[/del] the SDMB invented the ignore list. Just imagine: what if <pick someone> were on EVERYONE’S ignore list, such that no one ever read or reacted to anything <someone> ever posted. Can you hear the civility rolling in on the tide?

Agreed. And, as seen in a couple of ATMB threads of the past 24 hours, he seems to be lobbying hard to replace S_A in turning every thread round to be about himself.
I rationalize my occasional involvement with HD – when I happen to see some of the utter bullshit he posts – as a sort of civic duty to point out what bullshit it is.
OK, maybe I’m just feeding the troll. The good news is I’m not a follower and I miss probably 90% of the bullshit he posts, and a lot of the bullshit I do see I just can’t work up the energy to bother with. A lot of the time I read it just for its predictable amusement value, and move on. I ask forgiveness for the times when I am weak and give in.
See, I’ve had the occasional useful interaction with him. And, he’s much better outside of the Pit and (for some reason) ATMB.
I’d love for someone to track down any useful interaction with UV. I haven’t seen it.

I’m experiencing HD fatigue, especially in the mammoth Kavanaugh thread. He doesn’t seem to have much to say, and yet he says it over and over and over. Of course, HD isn’t the only one guilty of racking up huge numbers of pointless posts, but he is definitely one of the usual suspects.
Yeah. Setting aside our political differences, he bores me to fucking tears, and that’s one offense I can’t forgive.
