Either HD wants them dead, or he’s too fucking stupid to understand that homeless people don’t have the resources to move, and therefore some of them will die from this cold snap regardless of their desire to move where it’s warmer.

Yes–folks do die when it’s cold out. And some are homeless.
But some do go inside when it’s cold (if room available at the shelters). Hopefully they can take advantage of it, or their city sends out volunteers to try to get them inside. I know my city takes that very seriously.
I don’t know what HD meant. He was probably of the opinion, that if they are cold enough they’ll go elsewhere; and not bother anyone. I don’t know.
Like I said, I hope they get indoors during this cold, or if they refuse to, the volunteers at least convince them to take blankets or warm clothes that are provided.

When it gets terribly cold in any major city, some number of homeless people will die. This is an indisputable fact.
HD is happy that it will be getting cold in his city because of the affect it will have on the homeless.
You can be charitable if you want but either HD is so goddamn stupid that he doesn’t know the first point is true, or he’s pure evil. And honestly, if someone of his means doesn’t know the first point is true, fuck 'em.

I just don’t think he gives a shit if they do. So long as he doesn’t have to see them, it doesn’t matter what happened to them.
But then, he does say that there are some times when it is not entirely unreasonable to kill and injure hundreds of people and children in order to make a political point, so he may very well see their deaths as some sort of noble sacrifice he is more than willing to let them make in order to keep his streets clear of undesirables.
@Steronz and @k9bfriender: I admit that when it gets cold her, it will be kind-of-nice to not to have to deal with the folks begging for money every morning at the Dunkin’, but I don’t wish them ill harm.
In fact–I see one of the guys every morning and I buy a cup of coffee a couple of times a week.
