So I was supposed to tape the season finale of the Gilmore Girls for my girlfriend, but, sadly, I blew it. Lucky me, lucky mud. I fear terrible repurcusions. (sarcasm…or is it?) Anyway, I always see people on this section chatting about television shows, specific questions & so on. So my questions:
any of you know if this episode will be repeated?..I’ve had trouble navigating the terrible WB site
perhaps someone has a copy they can send me…i’d pay for everything. Maybe I’d even do some soft shoe for you.
If not, I’ll let you know what the weather in the doghouse is like.
It will almost certainly run again the week before the new season starts. Also, check out TWOP for sarcastic but accurate recaps of the episode, and any others she may have missed.
This is how I find repeats in the general vicinity of when an episode first airs:
go to tvguide.com and do whatever it is they make you do (free register, I think) to get your TV listings up
Find the show in question. It looks at first glance like you can do anything from yesterday to a couple weeks from now, on any given day. So this will work best either before something airs or the day after. I have no idea if there’s any way to search farther back before yesterday.
Click on the show. The summary or blurb or whatever will come up in the box on the left. Underneath is a tab named Additional Airings. Click on this, and it’ll tell you if/when a given show is scheduled to be repeated in the near future.
The bad news is that, for yesterday’s Gilmore Girls, “There are no additional airings for this program.” Sorry
A post on the TWoP Gilmore Girls forum from today (May 18th) (mods, if these violates copyright then do what you gotta do) states in part:
"The WB’s executive vice president for network communications, Brad Turell, said Wednesday that the network will broadcast the entire “Gilmore Girls” finale again some time in the next two weeks. The date of the rebroadcast will be decided in the next few days.
“We feel silly. It shouldn’t have happened, but it did,” Turell said of the unscheduled overtime. He added that the finale might be made available via the WB’s Web site.
In the meantime, Chicago fans of the show can catch the crucial final scene on the WGN Morning News on Monday, May 23. The Luke-Lorelai scene will be broadcast some time between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on WGN-Ch. 9."
Just a suggestion for the future, since this seemed to be so important to several people, get a Tivo or Replay. Seriously, it will never happen again. If it’s aired, it’ll be on the Tivo hard drive. Just put “Gilmore Girls” (or whatever) into the Wishlist or Season Pass, and it will record automatically. You don’t ever have to touch it.
When people say they don’t understand the appeal of a Tivo, that it’s just a glorified VCR…this is one of the reasons why it’s light years better than a VCR. You don’t have to worry about forgetting to record, you don’t have to remember to set the timer, have a blank tape in the VCR and think to turn the VCR off.
I myself am a recovering Tivo addict, so I’d advise caution. Tivo makes your life easier if you’re a television watcher, but it can also run your life if you’re not. But that’s a whole 'nother thread.
Get a Tivo, hook it up, set a Season Pass for the show(s) you ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY CANNOT MISS EVER EVER EVER! and you’ll be set. You won’t ever miss them, as long as the show airs, the network doesn’t cut into the program with something stupid, or the power doesn’t go out.
It won’t help you now, and I can’t help you because I rarely watch TV anymore (we have 2 Tivos sitting there idle), but it might be useful in the future.
