I fucked up.

I’m going home Saturday night, shot a few games of pool first, with some friends, but also remembered to take my prescribed Adivan, or whatever the hell it’s called. I’d just gotten off a 12 hour shift, and ideally, should have been in bed. Instead, I ended up in jail, with a broken wrist, shattered C7 vertabrae, and a black eye.

Guess I pissed somebody off, huh?

eeks! Care to share what happened? At least you are ok enough to be here telling us.

Yeah, but you should have seen the other, uh, truck.

What’s Adivan?

Good shit: http://www.psyweb.com/Drughtm/ativan.html

Lorazepam, used for treatment of Seizures as well as Anxiety problems. Doped up on Ativan, I’d like to know how you pissed someone off like that.

Sam

Apparently, I’m gifted in the social arts.

Smacked into a tree, at about 50mph. Don’t remember anything but the cold handcuffs. They busted me for DUI, although I was clean, but refused the test, since I’d had a couple earlier in the day. Time to “lawyer up” I reckon.

Happy Easter, I guess.

Hold the phone…you’ve been in an accident, you’ve got a broken vertebra (not to mention a broken wrist), and they put you in cuffs and in jail, instead of the hospital?

 He was in good enough shape to refuse the test.

Mixing Ativan and alcohol (even if you were not under the influence at the time of the accident) is a colossally bad idea. Which you probably know.

You’re still alive Sportin’ Life, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Ouch. Hey, as someone else said, you’re alive. Thank G-d. I know that all this sucks, but when you’re alive you can do something about it.

I’m just glad you’re alive. Who cares about the rest?

You just got off a 12 hour shift. Took Ativan. And then got behind the wheel of a car.

You could have killed someone, you idiot.

Clean but refused a test?
Please…

Moron.

The very reason I plan to buy a huge ass super Hummer, is so when some fool like this comes around the bend and hits me, he’ll bounce off me like a raindrop.

Family inside will be safe and sound.

Doesn’t even seem sorry for what he did.

Is the tree ok?

  • Jails have medical staff.

  • He somehow managed to discover what his injuries were, yet doesn’t remember anything else. There are two scenarios that would account for this: 1) he was transported from the crash site to the hospital, cleared by the doc after treatment, and brought to jail, or 2)brought to the jail, found to be in need of medical treatment, transported to the hospital, checked out, and brought back to the jail once the doc discharged him.

Yeah, and they make you listen to all kinds of Lord of the Rings minutae while they fix your hurts.

I was kinda hopin OP had gotten into a fistfight with a real monster of a bar fly. I imagined him fracturing his wrist on the other guy’s jaw just before the retaliatory left hook snapped his neck & put his lights out.

OP, make that be your story OK? The under-the-influence thing just doesn’t work.

What are you looking for from us here, Bandanaman?

Bananaman-

You need a lawyer for sure. You’ll still get stuck with the DUI most likely, even though you probably would have tested clean. Combining Ativan with another sedative is some boneheaded shit.

Why you guys refuse the test, I’ll never know. I see it all the time(I work for a law firm), and refusal even when sober will still get you a DWI/DUI and you’ll still be treated like one(at least in this area).

I hope your wounds heal, but I also hope you stop driving while using Ativan…bad idea!

Sam

I thought this too. There was a judge in NY that was recently busted for DWI, refused the test, claimed racism (her and the arresting officers were black), and just got off totally free.

This happened a few weeks ago.

I’m glad you are okay…truly I am.

But doing something that irresponsible? Thank God and your lucky stars it was a tree you hit and not an oncoming car with someone’s mother or child in it. I mean, really, could you live with knowing you killed an innocent person due to not being as careful as you could?

Again, glad you are okay but hope you chalk this up as one of those life lessons and learn from it.
