Well, I took the SATs on April 1st, all 3:45 (not counting breaks) of it; today I looked up my score online:
Critical Reading: 770
Mathematics: 790
Writing: 750
Woot! Or, more properly, //007!!!1!
Take that, colleges!

applause!
Good job, mate. Very good show. tips hat
Well, good for you, sweetie! See, all that homework was good for something!
It’s not a cumulative test, other than the 3 parts making a whole. IOW, you can’t take the 3-part test 3 times and add the scores together for a total. Cheater.
Kidding. Great score!!!
Actually, that’s exactly what does happen. If you take it multiple times and send the scores to the same college, they’ll only count the highest score for each section.
Whoa.
I never heard of anyone getting higher than a 1600 on the SAT. And only geniuses get 1600s! You must be a SUPER-genius.
Very, very good indeed.
Congrats! This might be a good thread to ask my SAT question in, since you seem to be the SAT Masiah!!
Is the SAT only offered in English? What about the ACT? How do people who speak English as a Second Language get a fair shot at a college entrance exam?
Thanks for listenting.
Also, so where do you plan to go to college?
Bear_Nenno: To the questions in your first post, I would go to www.collegeboard.com. They’ll know better than I do.
I’m currently planning to apply to VA Tech, JMU, GMU, and GA Tech next winter when I’m a senior.
This is the first I’ve heard of the new SAT scoring system. I was confused at first because I remember my score of 1450 being pretty good, yet it isn’t anywhere near 2310. Then I googled a bit and saw the new system.
Congratulations!!!
Yes, I know that. It was a joke.
And, um, I was going along with it! Yeah, that’s it!
I suck at telling when people are joking even in real life…
Yeah, I got a 1470 (IIRC) and suddenly that sounds way less impressive. Hell, average on the new one should be 1500, right? (Don’t they set them so that the average on each section is 500?) Damn you, College Board!
Actually, though, even taking into account the new scoring system, dwalin did way better than me. As such, I officially hate him.
Wow. Excalibre envies me? Excalibre envies me? Wow.
YAY you!
I can’t remember what my SAT’s were at all. Or if I even took them.
I don’t get it . . .
It means s/he has been sufficiently impressed by you in the past that being envied by you is to him/her a great compliment.
I must admit, the 2310 took me by surprise too! I’m from the days when 1600 was the highest score (I got 1540). I LOVE taking that kind of test - I wish there were a job where they’d pay you to do it. I live near ETS, but I doubt they want a 50 year old who does way better than average to be a test tester. sigh. But I had a blast on my GREs!
Congratulations!
I only wish I knew more about these tests. They didn’t do them in Canada when I was in school. Are they nationwide? Mandatory?
No. They are entirely optional; most high school students who intend to attend a university take the SAT or the ACT or both, as many schools require either the ACT or the SAT for admission (the ACT being another standardized test of the same ilk.) More and more universities, however, are making them optional as the evidence mounts that they don’t seem to test academic abilities very well.
