I reported in August that my contract had ended - and reported a few weeks back that I got a new contract *but *- I got a call on Friday with an offer for a really fun permanent job.
I will be developing software for the XBox 360. The money was a *little *lower than I was looking for - but I’ll get up and be excited to go in in the morning, and they promised that if I prove myself they’ll bump my pay to what I was originally asking in 6 months. (Fair enough, I’m confident enough in my skills that I have no worries about proving myself.)
I’ll also be working with the Kinect. I of course, couldn’t wait for the starting date, so I went off and ordered a Kinect and an XBox and about half a dozen books. By the time I start I’ll already have a bunch of tinkering done. (Damn Amazon, I ordered on Friday and it isn’t here yet! )
Ooh, sweet! Congratulations! Maybe I’ll use some of it someday!
Just out of curiosity, what code will the software be written in? I’ve never really thought to research what’s behind Xbox software, but now I’m wondering.
