Hooray for me. It has been six weeks since I have been gainfully employed. I got a job offer on Thursday and accepted it on Friday.
I am so happy about this job. It is with a small environmental consulting firm, not a big corporate monstrosity that… well, I’m just not even going to go there…
I have my B.S. in Geology. I have always wanted be able to use that degree to its fullest (as I am still paying for that precious education). With this job I will be doing a lot of stuff I have always wanted to work on such as mining remediation, geologic mapping and characterization and all for a company that has a great ethical compass. They actually want to get stuff cleaned up, not just suck clients for money.
The pay is on par with my last job, so no complaints there. It’s not a hugely fantastic salary, but then again I didn’t become a scientist for fame and fortune. Well, fame would be OK, but Oy! I love being a nerdy scientist!
