I got a new puppy!

I wish I had pics, but the animal shelter took his pic off the website after I adopted him, and I wont be able to bring him home until tomorrow while they give him an examination and neuter him. I’ll update with pics tomorrow!

Here’s the vital stats:

He’s a stray, so they’re not positive how old he is. Estimates are between 8mos to 1 year.

He’s a mixed Italian Greyhound and miniature poodle. If you’re not familiar with Italian Greyhounds, check out the link.

He’s got short hair like a greyhound, but it’s curly and non-shedding like a poodles. His coat is solid creamy white, and he’s maybe 20 pounds at the most.

He LOVES my 18 month old son. It was so fun watching them run around and chase each other in the play area at the animal shelter. He’s got so much energy and enthusiasm, and I’m sure he’ll fit in perfectly with my family.

We haven’t got a name for him yet, though! Maybe you guys can give me some suggestions once I get his pics up.

Oh. Em. Gee. I bet he’s friggen’ adorable. With a coat like that, I suggest Q-tip. Q for short.

Well, I haven’t seen your particular pup, but “Ferris” is a good name.

Yesterday I told you about my new Italian Greyhound/mini Poodle puppy, who had to stay overnight at the pound to be neutered before we could take him home.

We picked him up today, and he was still very weak and groggy from the surgery. Within just a few hours he was eating, drinking, and snorgling our faces whenever we came near, so we expect his recovery to be pretty quick even though they had to dig in his stomach to slice a testicle that hadn’t descended yet.

When I played with him at the pound yesterday to decide if I wanted to bring him home, he had so much excited, playful energy. Because of this we decided to call him Rowdy.

My wife and Rowdy on the way home from the pound.

Rowdy is not very happy yet. :frowning:

Rowdy in headgear designed to prevent him from licking the surgery wounds.

How adorable! The mix sounds odd, but he’s super-cute. I love the cream color with the darker ears, and the little wavy fur he has.

Congratulations on adopting!

What a cutie–and so unusual! I’ve seen Italian greyhounds running free in the dogpark, and they look like tiny little deer, bounding along after their owner. I can’t wait for full-body pics of Rowdy. The pictures you linked to are so close-up that I’m having trouble visualizing Rowdy’s size. If anything, he looks larger than I would have imagined.

Aww, how cute!! Both the wife and Rowdy.

But I hope we get to see some happy pictures of Rowdy before this thread is over. He looks so sad. And that description of the surgery was way TMI. Imagine if. . .no, never mind. . don’t.

I dont know how to turn the size down on the camera, which is why the pics turned out so huge. I’ll get it sorted soon, though. In the meantime you can see the same pics in a smaller size on my wife’s blog.

He’s very handsome! I couldn’t visualize that combination at all, but I think it’s a good one. A good name, too. Our most recent has a shelter-behavior name too (Bounder). If he’s anything like her, he’ll live up to his name once he’s recovered from his testicle-slicing.

Congratulations!

Greyhound/mini-Poodle mix? The mind boggles.

New puppy is always a good day, though.

Give it some time, and he will name himself. My beagle was named “Buster” at birth. Once his voice developed, he named himself “Boomer”. “ArrrrOOOOOOOOOWWWWWrrrrrrrrrr”.

Nice! Cute kid too. I think I might have already told you that before though. So many little carpet crawlers around here to keep track of I say.

Since both threads were about Rowdy, I’ve gone ahead and merged them.

What a cutie!

That is a cute little pup. He looks like he’ll be a little shitstarter too.

So incredibly cute! Congratulations! Scratch his ears for me, please.

My wife’s blog is updated with new happier pics of Rowdy (link is the same URL as the one in my earlier post, just updated).

That first pic in the blog - wow! He looks like a sheep of some sort. Extremely cute. Yay for pet adoption!
