I just woke up from a 30 hour nap that was, I am proud to say, only somewhat drug induced. I feel refreshed. Kind of. But I need a vacation, which is where the roadtrip comes in. I don’t know where I’m going yet. I can’t be out forever because I’m taking my brother with me and he has to get back to go to work (and I should probably find another job eventually). I’d like to go west, more southwest than northwest, and it’d probably take a lot of cash incentives to get my brother to go anywhere east of here. (Here = Minnesota, for those of you who don’t know.) Anyway, we’re taking off early Monday morning. Any suggestions (or offers of fine wine and dinner ) are welcome.
LOS ANGELES!!!
You gotta head over here, silvy. I want to grab yoru ass for real, this time.
Seriously, though. We have good fests here in L.A.
COME!
Check out Utah - Zion, then head through the desert to Las Vegas, then cruise through Joshua Tree on your way to L.A.
I would rather scoop my eyeballs out with a spork and feed them to my cat than go to L.A. again. But I’ll think about it. Remember I can’t be gone forever. My brother has a job that he’ll need to get back to after his weekend. I might be able to convince him to call in one day, but not more than that. You’ll have to email me a number where I can reach you or something, Merc. Just in case.
wishbone, I thank you for your suggestions. There are few places I haven’t been, but all the places you’ve mentioned are great. Utah is really high up there on my “Favorite States” list.
I’m thinking of Arizona. I didn’t get to spend much time there last time I went out that way, but the few miles that I did see were awesome and I’d like to see more. And I have a friend down there who I haven’t seen in a while. Nothing is set in stone though, so I’m still open for suggestions.
Silver, if you come out towards Denver, please let me know. I’d love to meet you and hang out.
I do have doper connections near Denver, so if anything comes up he can let you know. I really like Colorado and will most likely wind up going through there.
Hey, Silver Fire, if you’re a baseball fan I have an extra ticket to a Cardinals game on July 17th. It’s a Tuesday and it’s a bit later in the month than you’re talking about and I don’t know what your brother would do while we go to the game, but I thought I’d let you know about it all the same.
Besides, I guess St Louis isn’t very west of you, huh? So basically I’m just wasting time and babbling here. Nevermind.
I’m not a huge baseball fan and I sincerely hope that I have a job before the 17th. I’ve been to St. Louis. So has Adam. (That’s my brother.) I hated it, but only because we hit rush hour and it took us five hours to go 30 miles. (Okay, that’s probably an exaggeration. A slight exaggeration.)
If this game on the 17th is the only thing you’re interested in, then I’m out. But if you’d want to have lunch or something on my way through, let me know. I might be able to convince Adam that it’s a good idea.
The game would have to be it, since I have a training class for work during the day.
And you hated St. Louis?! You obviously didn’t stop to enjoy yourselves at the fantasticly entertaining International Bowling Hall of Fame. You must not have seen the Arch either. It’s really… um… big. And shiny. I hear tell math geeks love the parabola shape. [sub]Good God, my city is lame![/sub]
Hmm he must have missed “The Museum Of The Dog” too, Crunchy.
And, say hey, by the way, I’m not doing anything July 17th…if’n you’re still looking to get rid o’ dat ticket… [sub]I just bought a Cards hat and haven’t been to game yet…[/sub]
Hey, that would be awesome! Mini-dopefest with SilverFire!
Do I hear J.D.'s Bait Shoppe calling?
Could be that flatlanders are just fascinated by things like this, but if you go to Colorado, it’d probably be worth taking a quick look at Royal Gorge, but if you’re afraid of heights, don’t bother going out on the bridge.

Silver Fire, did I miss a thread in which you explained the “I got fired” part? I assume I did, since no one else is asking about it. I am, like usual, way out of the loop.

Indeed, you do.
Stellar idea, if I do say so myself.
Does this mean you won’t be coming through Montana?
Dang. Now I’m depressed.
No, you didn’t. There was no thread. You’re not out of the loop.
MrC, monster… Let’s try to remember a time in the not so distant past when a young girl – We’ll call her “Silver Fire” – tried to visit a couple of friends in Colorado. Can we remember? What happened? Oh yeah, someone changed the day and “Silver Fire” was left in the dark. Shunned. Shut down and turned away. Never to be seen or heard from again…
Okay, that last one’s a bit over the top, but it did happen. And I’m – I mean, “Silver Fire” – is deeply scarred by that. Or something.
I wonder if I still know how to get to JD’s. It’s by a KMart, isn’t it?
Crunchy, I did in fact see the arch. It was, like you say, big and shiny. My dad tried to convince me that going up inside of it would be a good idea. Ummm, no.
LindyHopper, Montana is boring. And long. And empty. And 90% of the reason that I said “more southwest than northwest”.
Set a time, I’ll be there.
You can see the new and improved model of Mr. C, minus about 40 lbs. Your mileage may vary.
Tuesday nights are BAD for me.

Yikes!!! You know we love you Silver! I think we were just scared that we would fall so deeply in love with you, we’d have to kidnap you and all that good stuff… Ummm, yeah, that’s it, right MrC??
Let me know time and date, and I’m SO there!!
