I haven’t read the thread today, but I just had to jump in here and yell:
By order of the President of the United States, my brother just got promoted to Chief Warrant Officer in the US Navy!!! Now, I’m not aware of all the nuances of this, but I do know that it is a 4-rank jump. He is in the reserves, but has been called up to go to Afghanistan. Eight weeks of training in Kansas, then a short stay in Kuwait, then on to Afghanistan for a year.
His wife is also in the reserves, and she volunteered to go too, and has been approved. They won’t be at the same “job site,” but at least they will be in the same “theater.”
I’m very proud of him, and his drive to succeed. He has taken so many classes and so much training - anything they offered, basically. He is a career man, and has been in the Marines, the Army, and now the Navy. His promotion involves being the go-to man for aircraft repair. If somebody can’t fix it, he’ll do the troubleshooting and call in vendors and such. He’s also been in Security, and tons of other jobs.
Woo-hoo! (But I wish they weren’t going over there.

You really don’t need to ship dog hair to me, though- I’ve got cats.
When I do chocolate cinnamon buns I make a ganache (about half chocolate chips and half heavy cream) along with the brown sugar butter cinnamon filling, and layer them in the buns. And then pour the leftovers on top.
They have no calories. None. I’ve had two so far.
My subconscious is telling me there’s some reason this Friday won’t work, FCM, but my calendar is providing no clues. The only possible drawback is if I end up staying up most of the night tomorrow night finishing up that Hill job. Where did you have in mind, your area, mine, or somewhere in between?
And I keep meaning to ask, Jahdra – who/what do you do all this knitting for? Is it just for yourself, or do you actually make things for other people and (hopefully) make money off it? That bag is adorable!
I figgered I could mosey up your way - maybe meet in Bowie? - since there’s not a lot down this way. Rip’s on 301 at 50 isn’t bad, or there’s a BBQ place close to there, or I’m willing to consider other non-Mexican options.
You can lemme know by Thursday. Once I drop the dog off at the vet’s, I’m free till the afternoon. If you’ve got other plans, I’ll just stay home and play with clay.
That sounds good; there’s a number of choices at 301 and 50, but I’m really not picky as long as it’s food.

Hey, donkeybear, I was just wondering the other day where you’d gone off to. As you can see, swampy’s life has been kinda boring lately. I’m sure he’s thrilled to have his stalker back.
I picked St. Genevieve for my confirmation, LiLi. No idea if she’s still a saint (I’m too lazy to look right now), but as a kid I had a story book about her that made me think she was really cool. I also liked St. Margaret (don’t ask me which one…).
I’m home early today and about to go get a haircut and run some errands. Had to eat two quesadillas first, though. Finally made it to the Mexican grocery the other day and I should have picked up two big packages of tortillas, cuz I’m demolishing them.
Hope you get the medical stuff figured out, Nava. They probably have something automatic that kicks in when you get to the 3-month mark and aren’t expecting anyone to wonder about it beforehand.
I’ve read through everything, but a lot of it didn’t stick yet…I’m tired. I’ll be back after errands and finish catching up.

Just FYI: when it is -8 degrees not Amurrkin and feels like -16, it is not a good idea to walk outside without your hat on, even if you’re just going the 2 blocks to get your hair cut. (For those of you stuck on Amurrkin degrees, that’s 18 and 3; yes, I left my weather.com page on metric units last time I visited.) I don’t know how the kid in shorts survives in the morning. He did wear a sweatshirt yesterday and today, but no hat, no jacket and shorts - in January!!!

I think I killed my iPod. I mistakenly thought the sync was finished so I clicked the little “eject” icon and as I was releasing the mouse, I realized the ipod still said Do Not Disconnect. and that was over a half hour ago. It still says it. I have to surf the iPod Support site for help. If I don;t have my tunes at work tomorrow, I shall be very put out.
I may or may not check back later. Depends how frustrated I get.
In fact, we’d be more than happy to opine on bridesmaids’ dresses. We’d want to make sure that LiLi and your other attendants are appropriately attired. You’ll find we’re very helpful that way.

Hey rosie. Is there a way to re-boot the iPod? I’ve had that happen when I’m synching my PDA. Sometimes it’s helped to turn it off and on again, but I’ve also had to reboot it.

I had to reboot my Nano recently, and as I recall, I googled “reboot iPod” and found the instructions promptly. It was very easy to do, too. (Not that I remember what I did, but I do know it worked.) So yes, you can indeed reboot an iPod.

I was 30 minutes with tech support to get it to a point where I could “restore” it, and the “restore” (after a good 10 minutes) said it was corrupted. So I killed it.
Oh, and we did Cairo backwards walk, kaleegy, and backwards figure eights with undulation. And walking undulations and bodywaves with three quarter shimmy.
Have I described Cairo backwards walk in detail? Stand up. Okay, now jump. Okay, now jump without changing the level of your head, absorbing the movement into your stomach. Fine. Jump, and then jump again, kicking forward and then swinging your leg behind you and landing on it. Right. Jump kick, jump kick. Now do this syncopated shoulder drop on every down.
