[/ul]Job brags are the worst, so I’m apologizing now. I’m sorry. But I gotta tell the internet somehow: I got the bump last Monday!

[li]Got an office to replace my old cube[/li][li]I get a ton more authority and responsibility[/li][li]Salary increase - well, it hasn’t happened yet, but I’ve been promised I will get a significant one by November[/li][li]A lot more travel required - I’m pretty much booked out for the rest of this year[/li][li]A technician of my very own! - I get 2 direct reports immediately, plus a guy who we plan to promote to proper chemist shortly. Technician position we will begin interviewing for very soon.[/li][/ul]
I’m thrilled by this new position. Work is challenging and fun again. I had been in a serious rut.
What was the nicest thing: an operator - a big, burly plant dude - cornered me and told me, “I’m so proud of you, GameHat. I’ve watched you grow for years.” and then gave me a big ol’ man-hug. I got some very nice congratulations from other workers, but this is the one I’ll remember.
Back to work on Monday. I’m flying on Monday to Dallas to spend the week, then the next week LA, then the week after that Galveston,TX. Crazy travel like this would have pissed me off a month ago. But now I’m a manager, goddammit! Par for the course, and I’m happy to do it, because work is fun again!
