I got the coolest thing for Christmas

It’s neat, and it’s what I wanted.

It’s this monitor, which is the only monitor I’ve ever seen in person and oooooohed and aaaaahed over.

I’m not generally a big gift-getting fiend, but this one made me really happy.

OOoooo nice monitor!!

I got this food processor from my mom. In Empire Red. She used her credit card points so she didn’t actually have to pay cash. It’s so cool! I’ve never had a food processor before. Soon as I find a place for it in the kitchen, I’m gonna process something!

Ooh! Nice food processor!

What are you gonna process? Huh? Huh?

I’m one of those lazy people who buy shredded cheese in a bag so I got nuthin’ to process. But tomorrow, I’m goin’ shoppin’! (I am so pathetic. I have to buy something to process!)

My coolest gift is something I’ve been wanting for a very long time. I finally emailed my Amazon wish list to my wife and she got it for me! Check it out!

And I bet it would look awesome on that monitor of yours!

Ooh! And my monitor has a “movie” setting.

Not that I have a clue what that means, but it has it!

That’s pretty cool. Can you type this essay up for me? My typewriter’s broken.

oh, I got 3 pieces of emerilware cookeware; a fry pan, sauce pan and a sautee pan. I used’em immediately to whip up my bourbon-pecan ham glaze, which was awesome. I rule!

I got a cool thing: a package with ancient Roman coins to be cleaned up and identified! (Yes, I am a geek. Also we’re homeschooling, so this is perfect for when we get to the Romans next year. But I’ve always wanted it anyway, that’s just an excuse.)

Also, I got a nice t-shirt that says “You are what you eatXXX read. EatXXX Read books.” And a picture of a raccoon eating books. (I don’t know how to do scored-out text, sorry.)

I got this watch, which I love.

Oh, that’s gorgeous!

My neat Giftmas gadget was the All In One Toaster and Egg Poacher, which I’ve been coveting since they released it. Can’t wait until it gets here and I can try it out.

Oooooh, I’m so jealous of that monitor! That’s going on my birthday wish list for sure.

I got Season 1 of “Lost”. I had never seen it, and told my boyfriend that I was wanting to see it but didn’t want to pay nearly 50 dollars for the set (because, what if I didn’t like it?). I totally wasn’t expecting it, but he got it for me anyway!

It’s actually really intriguing. We already watched three episodes! I told him that he made a big mistake in buying it for me because now he’s going to have to buy me all of the seasons when they come out :).

[hijack like whoa]

I love getting those gifts – the ones you reallyreally want but can’t justify buying for yourself. My wife got me a set of coffeetable books featuring photographs of Elizabeth Taylor, which ran about 30 bucks each. I couldn’t justify spending that sort of cash for a bunch of pretty pictures, but I was dying to have them so she noticed and got them for me. Complete surprise.

My friend got me a watch that shows compass bearing, altitude, pressure and heart rate. Last year he got me a tiny radio controlled submarine. I’m hoping his wedding gives me a chance to out-cool him for a change.

They get dusty inside when they are shipped, so here’s a free inside-of-screen cleaner. :stuck_out_tongue: http://60gp.ovh.net/~cleanyou/

I got this as my big gift. Just flew home with it today, so I haven’t had the chance to play with it.

Susan

Mrs. Fresh is the best. She bought a computer box and a bunch of separate components, including the DVD player and a Sempron processor, and we spent the weekend building the computer from soup to nuts. The coolest part was scrounging around the guest bedroom for old computers to cannibalize for parts that we forgot or that didn’t work. I’m still geeked out.

Actually I’m using that monitor right now! Be sure to over-ride the refresh rate to 75hz, and always use DVI connections. Keep your screen free of dust, and you’ll get the clearest picture available on the consumer market. Congrats!

I consider myself a video-phile:

The settings I have on the monitor for best picture:

Backlight: 100
Contrast: 45
Brightness: 65
Gamma: 2
Color: 9300k

Enjoy!

Oh, I forgot:

Sharpness: 4
