I know there is a thead on technical issues in About This Message Board but there is no end to the frustration I have experienced many times on SD. May be it’s just me but most of the time I try to access SDMB page, I can’t get through. I always get that Page Not Found error message.
The worst had been when I was posting some long topic/reply, which essentially required some thought and clicked on submit. And what do you? Yes, the page not found error again. You click on browser’s back button only to find out that whatever you had written has disappeared.
Is there something that I’m not doing that others doing that keep them posting successfully?
The only times I’ve been able to post successfully have been at nigh. Else it’s all a matter of luck.
Pedro, I tried doing that too few times but then there have been times when you forget or times when everything seems to be working fine and boom! all of sudden you get that error again. It’s just seems inevitable.
Most of the time the post went through nevertheless. That’s where all them double-posts mostly come from. Don’t believe what the board tells you. Submit is submit, once you click it, your post’s there.
I do that, too. Also, if I can tell that it’s going to be an exceptionally long post, I type it out in Word or something. That way, not only do I not have to worry about the hamsters losing my post, but I can spell-check the thing as well.
Yeah, no matter what you do sometimes your post really vanishes and it’s precisely the one you forgot to save. I always check to see if it went through when I get an error message and I’d say it’s 50/50. Of course, it’s easy to see why I rarely run into problems since I average 0.2 posts a day.
