I grow weary of the facebookers...

Ugh. I know everybody has seen some form of this on Facebook; the OP makes a post that is deliberately vague, emotional and open-ended. Then, when people respond with, “Oh, what’s wrong?”, the OP will say, “Oh I don’t want to talk about it.” WTF. What sort of “support” would the OP be getting if they don’t even reveal what that support is supportive of?

[the following is a hypothetical scenario in an alternate universe where people use Facebook in a slightly different manner. From the other person’s perspective, at least.)
OP: “It’s really hard sometimes…” :frowning:

Well meaning FB friend: “Well tell me what’s wrong, it’ll probably feel better to talk about it.”

OP: “Nah, I don’t really want to talk about it, it’s a private matter.”

Well meaning FB friend: “Oh, um, ok. Well why make a status update that brings up that private matter? If you don’t even want to talk about it?”

OP: “It’s just, like, the hardest thing I’ve ever been faced with is all.” :frowning:

Well meaning FB friend: “…that you don’t want to discuss? I’m getting confused here.”

OP: “likes” preceding post.

:confused::rolleyes:

Vaguebooking. It’s a thing.

Yesterday I signed into FB and posted for the first time in two weeks.

Just to say that I hadn’t read anything on FB in two weeks and had only clicked on it to clear the notifications and see if anything was directed at me, and that I likely wouldn’t be back on FB anytime soon.

I don’t find much similarity between this and the OP.

Could you clarify a bit?

Ha! Touche.

It’s just hard sometimes. Know what I mean?..

…I dont really want to talk about it…

(But I definitely want the attention and hearts and supportive messages that anyone might care to throw me)

Sigh… I has a sad. :frowning:

It’s slowly dawning on me that I may have been mistaken putting my thread in this forum.

Like

I had to laugh at this one.

Slowly?.. Okay, we’ll wait. Take your time.

Thanks! I’d be quicker with it, there’s just this thing…It’s pretty much taking up every minute of every hour of my life. It’s consuming me, really. I think I’m falling apart over this thing. :frowning:

I’m told facebook does this to the truly addicted.

Entropy?..

Sorry guys. Boundaries, k? Geez

Not entirely in line with the OP, but:
I have some dear, sweet friends on Facebook who do not do anything but share content from other sources.
There’s very, very rarely anything original, and I thought the purpose of Facebook was to share pictures and experiences with friends and family.
I see the same news stories as you do; you don’t need to post a news story that the whole fucking world knows about.
I don’t know who you think you’re impressing, but it ain’t me.
