How do I block someone now?
Click on their username in a thread to bring up their card. Click on their username in their card to bring up their profile. Somewhere on their profile should be a button marked Normal. Change it to Muted or Ignored. You’ll have to set a time limit for Ignored.
Muted keeps you from being notified of their posts. Ignored keeps you from seeing their posts.
You can also set it in your control panel at Preferences >> Users.
Thanks
I’m only seeing two options - Normal and Muted. Can’t see Ignored anywhere. Is it dependent on the theme?
Scroll down?
Sorry, I missed that you’re Trust Level 1. You can only mute for now.
Oh, I see. Thanks.
You can’t get the likes requirements, but I’d go ahead and make sure that you meet the others:
- Visiting at least 15 days, not sequentially
- Casting at least 1 like
- Receiving at least 1 like
- Replying to at least 3 different topics
- Entering at least 20 topics
- Reading at least 100 posts
- Spend a total of 60 minutes reading posts
More and more, my blocked posters keep getting banned anyway.
I can’t ignore anyone, apparently. The person I am trying to put on ignore has a hidden profile and I don’t see the option on the page. When I go to my preferences and type in the name, pick a time, and click on ignore it tells me to select a time frame, even though I have already done that. I am using Chromium om Linux, if that makes a difference.
@eulalia You have to type the name, then wait for it to recognize it; then pick the drop-down option. Only then press ignore.l
Yeah. It’s somewhat irritating that when you type something into Discourse searches, and hit enter when you’re done, Discourse acts on what it’s recognized so far, vice what you typed.
Okay, I had to click on the name when it showed up under where I typed, then click on the X next to it. The names I tried weren’t popping up under my typed ones the other day, for some reason. This does seem more complicated than it ought to be.
Thanks very much for your help!
Sorry, there were some bugs here, but everything should be working (more or less) OK now… we hope…
