So… The Defuser.
My wife and I both looked at each other and said, “What the hell?” when his name was announced. Right up until that point, it sure seemed like HyperStrike was going to be the winner- and he looked fairly pissed about losing, as well. HS seemed to be the most consistently heroic, although he did seem to have a tendency to reveal his secret identity. Plus, he was just damn fun to watch- he was obviously having a ball just being on the show.
On the plus side, I found out last night that I’m one degree away from Defuser- one of the friends they interviewed last night is a friend of mine. That was rather surreal.
I admit I only watched about 10 minutes total of previous episodes of this, but I did watch most of last night’s one.
The thing I didn’t get is what exactly “The Defuser” was supposed to have as his power. Even after watching the little ‘trailer’ sequences it still wasn’t clear. Does he defuse bombs? Is he an excellent negotiator?
The other ones, especially Hyper-strike, were pretty clear. He at least seemed interesting as a Superhero concept. Hygiena looked nice enough, and had a concept that allowed for cheesy lines. Unfortunately it also made me think of the Roseanne Barr mind-controlled superhero from the Batman animated series.
And did they really have a previous superhero named ‘Basura’? I thought I saw that name flash on the screen once. Or was that a villain they had to fight?
Yeah, Basura was a heroine (and this season’s sole eye candy) who got eliminated about halfway through. Her costume was fairly serious cheesecake, and her powers had something to do with bugs and/or trash.
One thing that bugs me about the show is that there’s no emphasis on their “super” powers. Of course, I’m not really sure how you’d incorporate that into a TV show… but yeah, Defuser’s powers seemed to be all over the place.
He’s got enhanced senses and reflexes.

Yay! I’m happy how it turned out. Defuser was always my favorite, but I figured he had two things going against him:
One: he was my pick. It’ll never happen!
Two: Stan kept busting his balls every week over the stupidest shit. I figured Stan didn’t want someone who was a sort of a hero (cop) in real life.
Should have known Stan the Man wouldn’t disappoint me. He’s wiser than I’ll ever be.
What are his powers? Hm. Does it matter? Really? Two seasons now we’ve got pudgy housewives with ridiculous powers making it to the end. Now, I’m not saying our heroines have to have rippled abs (Defuser didn’t) & zero percent body fat (Defuser didn’t) to make it as a hero figure, but c’mon! Doughnuts & cleaning ladies?
Defuser is big, tough, heroic and emits some sort of power blast, and flies. They all do. What more you need?
Good season, but didn’t have quite the “heart” the first one did. Still okay though.
What’s the news on a new season? Gonna happen?
