I had a cool idea! (program that creats sdmb code much like MS word)

I’d like to see it, too. I had toyed with the idea of hacking up a Java app to do this (maybe even with hotkeys for smilies), but I’ve never gotten around to it.

With all these feature requests, maybe you should open-source it…and let them add their damn features.

[b}jjimm{/b] as you can see, *I{//i] don’t really need a copy but feel free to post that [underline]link. as soon as possible.
[soiler]It’ll be our secret[soiler].

Ok I was drunk when I wrote it, but it works anyway. I just checked in here on the boards (hence no response to those requests yet)

(happy drunk. not depressed drunk)

You haven’t listed your e-mail address.

There’s already a program like that out there … it’s called BBTool.

See http://pspprogramming.multimania.com .

Wheeeeeee!

There’s a reason why I hardly use it, too. I don’t want to be thrown into the BBQ Pit.

And after pressing quote on the above, I can see why you fear a pitting

I downloaded that app, it needed some dlls that I don’t have.

Mine is dll independent.

Thank you Lobsang, for emailing the program

Is this a PC er Windows only app?
I’m a MAC user, can I use it too?
Oh pleeeeaseeeeee…

Bumpety bumpety bump.

Lobsang kindly mailed me the app. I have zipped it and put it up for Dopers’ downloading pleasure here (36K) to give him a bit of peace and quiet.

I haven’t actually been able to get it to run yet, as it’s whining about requiring rtl60.bpl to run, but I’m sure I’ll be able to download and install this DLL-alike soon.

Sorry, chattywine, it’s a Windows-only .exe.

What is rtl60.bpl? My computer needs it too.

Doesn’t happen to have spoiler ability or listing or stackable tags, does it? It’d be nice to do something like

[spoiler]

this[/spoiler]

without having to type in tags for a minute.

Upon preview, that spoiler space doesn’t quite work as advertised. Kinda cool:)

OH! Can you make one with a “disable smilies” thingy? And while we’re on the subject, one that goes to the bathroom for me and fetches cooked pizzas from the oven would be lovely so I don’t have to get up at all except to change the channel on the television:D

I once downloaded an OS 9 (not OS X) version of a program like this, but since I rarely am in OS 9, I never really used it. If anyone can locate an OS X version, please let me know!

Here’s the thing…

I could quite easily make it do just about every tag there is, and a few non-tag things.

I made it while I was ahem, drinking (and looking for something to do) and people started asking for it, so I sent it, with only 3 tags implemented.

I could make one where you assign a keyboard shortcut to a set of open tags (color, size,b,u,i) and a set of close tags. so to do what you did you’d type ctrl-k (for instance), then ‘this’ then ctrl-k again.

easier would be to just finish off the tags (I only have bold, italic, and quote implemented) so you’d pick red from a picker, pick 5 from a size picker then press ctrl-r ctrl-s ctrl-b ctrl-u ctrl-i then type ‘this’ then press all those ctrls again (the order doens’t matter, vbulletin is clever like that)

It turns out my webspace is working. So I’ve posted an updated version (more tags) there.

Linkypoo

I haven’t added all the colours to the list. nor have I bothered to test the ones I did add. I am lazy.

helldamnfart! - I forgot to create keyboard shortcuts for the new tags.

<goes off to start Borland Builder again>

I haven’t downloaded this new version yet Lobsang, so don’t know if you’ve added it: A save function.

Okay, I have it now. Lobsang - Buddy, chum, matey, pal o’ mine - Any chance of a save feature?

A save feature you shal have

And by the looks of elmwood’s post we are not limited to the colours in the dropdown. So I might add in a 24bit colour picker.
I am saying I this I that. It’s really Builder that’s doing all the work.
