I hate Subway!

not sure where you are located but this is the place I mentioned. https://www.hansaimport.com/
It’s not a butcher, so everything is packaged and not fresh, but usually not a bad selection.
Also nearby, if you are interested in fresh sausage, and not adverse to going a little bit further to eastern Europe, this place has very good Slovenian sausage, smoked kielbasa, and cevapi Raddell's Sausage Shop Inc.

I don’t know if I’d call Canadian Club “great.” Adequate, at best. What you really want in Canadian whiskey is Crown Royal.

I have relatives in Ohio, the next time I visit I will try to remember that place, thanks.

Crown Royal is good, but Gibson’s is even better.

This was always my favorite sandwich from Subway. I like it toasted with provolone, with spinach, green peppers, banana peppers, and onions on top.

But I got one a few months ago after not going to Subway for years and was pretty disappointed. Maybe I’ll give another store a try.

As far as their other sandwiches I find them all to be pretty bland and tasteless. Especially their ham and turkey.

I was recently gifted a hoagie from a local outfit that only makes them for fundraising organizations.

It was the best tasting sub I have ever tasted. The bun itself had a rich flavor as if recently baked. The toppings were all enclosed in little sealed bags. And it was a whopping 14 inches!

I ate half one day and half the next.

I went online to see if I could find one to purchase. The only option is to request information on local fund raising projects which they quickly supplied.

I would be tempted to do a fundraiser for myself!

Now that’s an idea. Maybe I’ll look into it.

Some fundraising outfits (including the one I have a strong guess you’re referring to, but won’t name because you haven’t) only sell a 14” sub for fundraisers so they can honestly say “we only sell our 14-inch sub for fundraisers!” but sell an 8” and 16” version at retail at their related businesses.

Edited for clarity

I’ve never heard of sub sales for a fundraiser; any chance someone can name this group?

I don’t think it’s exactly a regional difference - I think it’s a more local difference. I live in a city - when I’ve worked in a “business district” with mostly offices and stores, there has always been something similar to a Subway. There might be an independent sandwich shop but there are no delis, bakeries, supermarkets. Every so often a Subway/Blimpie opens in my residential neighborhood but they only last a year or two - probably because I have to pass at least five other places I can buy a freshly made sandwich to get to the Subway. My brother in law lives in a suburban area - as far as I know the only places to get a sandwich are the supermarket or a gas station convenience store which will probably have a Subway counter.

Which brings me to another reason - Subway is a chain and there are at least two advantages to chains. One is that you can usually depend on some minimum quality ( Chains are not usually great food but they are also not usually terrible) and two is that you can find them fairly easily. I can find the nearest Subway or McDonald’s location easily, but it’s going to be a little harder to find an independent sandwich shop in an unfamiliar place - you can’t always tell from the name . If a restaurant advertises itself as “the home of the garbage plate” or " Charlie’s Restaurant" a non-local might not know it sells (at least a few) sandwhiches.

I used to semi-regularly get an egg salad sub at Subway and I would get them to toast the bread before putting on the egg salad (who wants warm egg salad?).

That tracks; where I live is considered a suburb of Seattle and we have no delis or anything like that here.

I have learned that 7-Eleven has some okay sub sandwiches for a really cheap price though. (Premade of course.)

Tat’s in Pioneer Square is pretty damn qood IMO, though their hours are super-limited (9 AM - 2:30 PM). I never understood how it can possibly be profitable to operate in such a high-rent area when you’re barely open.

I’m sure it is horrible and will probably poison you and shank everyone you know and love in the middle of the night.
UW grad here.

This is another group. The ones I’m aware of are pretty regional, only serving a few hours’ drive around them.

Thanks. A Google search for “Italian sub fundraisers” came up with another company, based in Blair County, Pennsylvania.

Mariannas Fundraisers in Altoona.

Subs and pizza.

That’s the one I found in a Google search. If they’re offering the subs for fundraisers elsewhere in the country, they would have to be shipped in.

I love Tommy!
