I hate when I do that in the MMP! - old

I’d had the thought to do the same thing. I for one don’t find your timestamps objectionable at all.

From start to finish my sunrise MMP usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. Unless I’m interrupted to do more than refill coffee. Of course I start by clicking [reply] to the thread, giving my weather report, then go back up and read all the news since my last post, adding my quotes or comments as I go. Finally add my overnight news and plans, then click [Save]. Followed by 12 edits to fix all the unnoticed typos and spacing failures.

I’m glad they make sense to someone else! LOL! And, clearly, I only put them on the one “big” post of each day.

My process is to start by reading/catching up on the thread, quoting things I want to reply to as I go. Then I start typing (which is my “start” time). I blather about myself, then reply to the quotes I captured – at least, the ones that didn’t become OBE/weren’t plenty addressed by others by the time I got caught up. During all of that I’m often also doing other stuff. Then I proofread, and finally click “reply.”

Howdy Y’all! Progress toward feelin’ better goes on. I had a grilled cheese sammich and some chikin noodle soup earlier, which made tummy happy. I think I shall knock myself out with some Nyquil tonight in the hopes of bein’ back to my usual ray of sunshine self tomorrow. The interview for the prospective new Priest is Sattidy mornin’, thus I must be better by then. I watched a couple more of his sermons today just for funsies. I like his style.

Oopsie here’s hopin’ the repairs are over soonest. I know you’re glad to be gettin’ 'em done.

Today VBC got a package in the mail and hubs opened it in front to her and GG. They thought the smells were very interesting and then GG thought that he wanted it. GG has never chosen to play with any of VBC’s toys before, the jerkface waited until she had one specially made for her before picking one.

Titled: George vanquishes the Dragon.

It’s bigger than it looks in the pic, and super cute. I’ll try to get a pic sans cat later in the day.

Isn’t that just a normal assumption regarding any storm? It sure is out here.

Scammers gotta scam, I’ll bet the look on his face when he realized he was caught was pretty interesting, LOL!

No, we aren’t sure, but we currently have a low opinion of rental companies buying up everything for investments instead of young families being able to be homeowners so that’s influencing our thoughts about what is happening back there.

Oh yes, we get factory eggs once in a while in the surplus boxes and there is no comparison to what I get locally. The chickens out this way get a bunch of grasshoppers every year, I’m sure the extra protein is good for them, LOL!

That’s probably only because I’m cheaper than you, LOL!!!

After I made the oreo and candy corn demo cookies for the kids, I gave them EVERYTHING because neither of us can be trusted around candy corn.

I always feel like putting water out for them, but know that it would be a super BAD idea. The water delivery guys said that they have been filling the tanks but that the extended drought is still a big issue with the wildlife.

Geeze louise, talk about kicking you when your down!

I’ve spent almost three hours trying to fold a load of clean towels. The cats are tag-teaming me, LOL!

Monkey looks like he’s made of milk chocolate

I’m glad you are feeling better and chikin noodle soup always helps!

Hmmmmm, well, yeah, I guess you are right, LOL!

I’m still trying to figure out why? Isn’t that like counterfeiting dimes, much work for very little profit?

Today was Tai-chi and our instructor gave us a new move. Again. Every time we get used to the routine, she mixes it up and makes it harder. And she smiles when she does it, the bitch.

OTOH, it’s been months since I’ve needed my cane, so I guess I shouldn’t complain that much.

Today is baking day and the cookie dough is “resting” in the fridge while the dishwasher chugs. I’ll turn the oven on when the dishwasher chirps, then get started weighing cookie dough balls.

I need to mess around with how long to let them cool before putting the eyes in (these cookies are super fragile until they are thoroughly cooled), so I’ll just put a dozen in the oven first and then empty the dishwasher while they are baking. Once I’ve got that figured out, I can break out the big cookie sheets.

I meant to take a pic before sending it. I liked your color choices.

I have a microwave! Daughter remembered that she had a spare in their junk room and I brought it home with me today. I was a bit gross inside, but it cleaned up pretty easily. Not as big or as powerful as our old one, but it’ll do what I need it to do, so huzzah!!

I also ordered and picked up a smart speaker for FCD’s shop - he wanted Alexa out there, so I’ll get it set up for him tomorrow. The account is on my tablet and I’ve set up 3 of them. plus 2 smart outlets, so I figure it shouldn’t take long.

For now, tho, chillage shall ensue.

Mi Esposa suggested Paso del Norte for dinner. Who am I to refuse? She had a tostada and a couple of grande blackberry margaritas. I had hot wings (as always), and carne asada, with a couple of grande Cadillac margaritas. We went to ‘dinner’ very early, so the cats had to wait an hour for their gooshy food.

I’m on board with canned beans too. They make a nice protein without having to plan too far ahead.

In the case of tomatoes, yes.

After Mom went mostly blind and the dementia worsened, we put child guard covers on the range knobs. She was still allowed to cook, but only under supervision.

cat glove, when I lived in my last apartment and worked graveyards on the weekends, when I would come home on Saturday or Sunday mornings, a lot of times there was a hot air balloon hovering over a field once I got off the freeway. I always intended to find the field and swing by for a hi, how are ya.

shoe, Monkey is one handsome puddy tat!

Glad that you’re feeling a bit better swampy.

Continued hugs for nellie.

My irk predictions were proven valid today. I was moved from the work that I have been doing all week to go back to my other area to get things cartonized and transferred out of our inventory. Idiot boss never considered how inventory left the department once it was processed. We also had our semi-annual fire drill.

I took Nelson to the dog park once home, then hit the drive thru at Captain D’s 'cause I was hungry for batter dipped fish (I was good and got steamed broccoli and green beans as a side :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m not an Alexa house, I’ve got a google dot. There are many days when I don’t say anything to a real person, but tell google to play NPR.

I’ll need to talk tomorrow, though. Got a zoom meeting with the board of the museum to try to pitch my build a boat in their gallery idea.

{{{nellie}}} Hoping it isn’t too bad.

swampy Glad to hear you’re on the mend.

JtC That is the look of a mischievous gato. And I agree with not watering the javalinas, no sense in asking them to come back.

shoe Love the “We don’t open until 4” Friggin hilarious.

Sorry, guys, I don’t get the need for a microwave. I haven’t had one since 2003? I never really liked they way food gets kind of…mushy in it. I make do with stove top or toaster oven for quick heat ups. The tortilla with cheese, if’n we’re gettin’ fancy, maybe that’s a quesadilla, is much better in a pan on a burner.

Evening all. Soccer has been practiced and the boys seemed reasonably impressed by the stuff I brought along (the sword I bought in Jerusalem was the big hit). Now waiting for the Southwest Chief to appear in LaPlata Missouri and catching up on the Dope, so tonight should be a quiet one.

I usually read all the way through the thread then go back to where I last posted to make my responses to all y’all. My personal stuff either goes at the start or the end (with occasional remarks in the middle) and I’ve never timed it, but may just for grins tomorrow. It was interesting to read how other folks do their posts here in the MMP.

swampy, I know chicken soup is good for the soul, guess it also is good for the body. Take care and get a good night’s sleep.

JtC, think GG will remember that dragon tomorrow? And Tai-Chi instructor doesn’t want you to get bored…

FCM, glad you found a temporary fix to the microwave issue.

red, have you ever considered other employment? Sounds like that place is not an healthy environment for you.

VanGo, for a single guy like me who never really learned to cook, a microwave saves time and effort that I can put into slothage. YMMV.

Ok, the Chief is leaving LaPlata and I am leaving the thread to explore other portions of the internets. Take care all.

I only have about another year and a half to semi-retire, so I’m going to hang around a bit longer. Most days, it isn’t so bad, but sometimes, IB (idiot boss) just kind of wears on me. I’ll survive.

I’m still curious about Blueberry attrition.

Lamentably not available in my area, and I was kinda craving enchiladas earlier. So I’m having leftover Stouffer’s Cheesy Garlic lasagna for dinner. Consistent I am not always. The lasagna was easier, being already present and just needing zapping.

This is my preferred McD’s breakfast option.

Well, only kinda. If I can go out and pick a pod of peas, open it up and eat the nummy contents right there, I’m a huge fan. But in my experience peas are overcooked or overaged before cooking or even before breaking them out of the pod for eating. It must be done in a matter of hours. But I do like the spicy, dried peas I can get at the Indian grocery store. I love the crunch of them.

I know a dog who is a huge fan of the same fresh peas I am after. My friend’s labradoodle pulls them off the vine to eat the crunchy treat. He watches them grow with great anticipation. It’s a hilarious sight to witness.

Shoe, glad you had a light evening for a change, though you don’t want too many of those. Could you please post a splooting cat pic? I’m missing my ex-cats like crazy. I hope they found good homes. I do know they were both adopted out of the shelter within 3 days of being placed there, a good thing for my lovely black furbabies.

Cookie, yikes on the Covid. May you be well and be able to steer clear of sickness.

JtC, fresh eggs from pastured chickens that are allowed to forage make for the most delicious eating, I agree. I thank you on behalf of those chickens because I know their eggs must be fabulous. I don’t know the details of what my egg supplier is feeding her girls but my last two dozen eggs have come with membranes that don’t tear easily when you crack open the egg. This means the eggshell crumbles and I am left digging shell bits out of my eggs as the cook. But the eggs are still tasty.

This happens to me frequently enough. I don’t quite know why my debit card is being so picked on but the companies I have set up for auto-pay must mutter nasty things about me under their breath given how often I’ve been hacked in the last couple of years.

I’m out for the evening. Today wasn’t quite so fun at work as the person I was put with was a downer about everything and everyone. But to be fair, she knows her stuff and helped out a couple of clients in need. I am now able to deal with simple inquiries, reservations, and transfers. Nice to know my learning skills haven’t kicked the bucket despite what my previous boss tried to tell me.

Up from naptime, made a Royal Hawaiian for cocktail hour, smoked Paprika Chicken for dinner, and hockey for dessert.

I felt cautious about the look.

“I am Mighty HunterTM” - GG

We were missing a few in Smalls today. Dunno if they got pulled elsewhere, or ejected. But they brought in like 50 in the last week, so we might have 4 or 5 left by Halloween.

Hint: Whenever someone is shouting at you that you are stupid:
a) You’re not the problem.
b) You’re not stupid.

G’night all.

Pssst, I knew I wasn’t the problem. The problem was I couldn’t leave there until I had another job lined up because no safety net. My goal was to survive and leave. I met my goal.

Been there, done that, glad you’ve found better.

Crater Lake was indeed quite the wonder to behold. I was literally only there for about 30 minutes, but I got some good viewing in and little mini hike (if walking a hundred yards into the woods to take a piss counts). The eight hours I put in behind the wheel was quite the breath of fresh air for me too. I love to drive and that part of the country is amazing to drive through - even at night.

They went the other direction. Besides, there’s
plenty of places to grab a bit for lunch, but pitifully few late-nite options.
Hell, until several years ago, the place stayed open until three in the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: morning, can you imagine what time those poor bastards got home?

And I still occasionally get lighthearted shit from long-time customers about us shortening our hours.

I like 'em, they demonstrate how much time and effort went into each lovingly crafted reply.

There should be an Imgur link in my last post. The 1st pic has Monks with his eyes open, but the other two feature The Sploot.

Pro tip: crack the eggs into a separate little bowl, then add to the main dish. (Plus, if you ever have the misfortune of getting a bad egg, you don’t immediately ruin the entire thing.)

Oooh, is that some new strain of weed?

This is beautiful in its clarity and simplicity.

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures! Such beauty … and one good-lookin’ doggy as a bonus.

@carnut here’s the pics again, save you some scrolling:

Oh yeah, I forgot the best part. There were other people hiking around the vistas and as I was walking back to the car, this family was walking up and these two little boys were fascinated with the fact that there were patches of snow here and there.

“Mom! Mom! It’s real ice. Like, ice, not snow. Real ice.”

Followed by: “this is so much better than Los Angeles.”

I haven’t had captain d’ s in 30 years after the one grandma lived by closed …
