Sure, I’ve been there, TRYING to drag myself away from the computer. But wait, I say. How can I deny the boards my wisdom, my insights, my cleverly cheeky stories? How WILL they get by if I don’t drop into this thread and tell everyone how goddamn wrong they are? How can the quality of the boards be maintained if I don’t pop into that thread and summarize all previous threads with a succint witticism that puts the whole discussion into sharper focus? How can I risk making the boards dull by not starting a new thread to talk about myself and my deep insights into the choice of mortar color in brick doghouses? What WILL my fans do if they don’t see my name and experience my sparkling wit today? I OWE IT to the other dopers to read each and every thread that I might possibly be able to comment on, even tangentially.
If you get pressed for time, one thing you can do is just open the thread and post your Sprak O’ Genius without reading anything anyone else posted. Screw 'em, few of them are half so clever as you!
