She doesn’t have a name yet. My sister & her husband did the same thing with this one that they did with their first child a couple of years ago–picked a few names that they like, and they’re going to see which one fits. So far, there’s five that they like–Caroline, Allison, Jane, Jillian, and Leah. I’m kinda partial to Jillian, myself.
Apparently, my sister’s labor was strikingly similar to mine, when my daughter was born. The length was about the same (roughly five hours), and even the time it started and finished (hers started at about 3 am, and the baby was born at 8:04–mine started at about 3:30 am, and my daughter was born at 8:24).
I was having an outrageously crappy day. This made me feel better.
CONGRATS!!! Both of my wife’s brothers are due in July of next year, so I will have two coming then! Give my best to your Sister and her family from this Doper.
That rocks! Cristi, or let me be proper, Persephone, that’s a cool deal. I’ve got little feet coming from my brother and sis-in-law towards the end of this month. They’ve avoided knowing whether it’s a boy or a girl (slap me if you will, but I’ve got nieces (love’em to death); I’m rootin’ for a boy).
Congratulations Persephone! I hope mother and child are doing well. It really CAN brighten you day, huh? My sister is due in the third week of February, with a second boy. She’s forty-one, so we are all hoping she stays healthy. Her first child is old enough(almost seven) to be glad of a baby brother(it is a boy coming) and hopefully won’t get his nose all out of joint at the attention the little one will get. I never had kids, although I wanted them, so having the nephews is the next best thing.
Baker & beatle: My daughter’s birthday is February 23rd. Maybe your little bundles of joy will come in right about then. That would be WAY cool!
Oh and beatle, maybe if your bro & sis-in-law have a boy, he might be interested in older women? I’m trying to marry off my daughter. She’s three. Really, really three.
Congrat Persephone and Persephone’s sister! My neice was born back in June. She was a beautiful baby once her head finally got to a normal shape and she stopped changing colors. Until then, she was just kinda freaky-lookin. (j/j)
My advice, if you don’t want to babysit, do what I do:
When the parents are around offer to feed the baby some of your steak off the end of a steak knife, demonstrate for them that you know baby CPR and proceed to mangle the doll you’re demonstrating with (bonus if the head pops off!), and tell them your place is perfect for watching little kids now that you haven’t seen any rats for at least 2 weeks. Guaranteed when they want a night out, they won’t come asking you to watch the baby.
Of course, disregard all that if you do want to babysit. Personally, I’m waiting till the kid is old enough to get me a beer while the game’s on before offering my services.
Congratulations, auntie Persephone! I’ve recently become a first-time auntie myself on December 21st. I’m so proud, I could just burst. I find myself talking about my niece to one and all, and sending her pics to people. (Not that they care, but hey, they humour me.) Congrats again!
Say, I just had a thought…Yes, I DO have them, so those who doubt should just shut up…
Does this make me a virtual aunt? After all, through no fault of my own, I am married to Persephone and her virtual husband Euty. Now, I shall run out and buy a baby gift.
Oh, they’re already in for that. They’ve got a hyphenated last name. A long one. Sigh.
I’ve already got two kids, and my sister already has one. We swap baby recipes.
Scotti: You & evilbeth both! Hey…does that make us like the Three Weird Sisters from Dracula? Ooooooh…
I just got the word. The baby’s name is…Allison. And evilbeth, if your first name happens to be Elizabeth, I’ll put in two good words for you. That’s the baby’s middle name.
(ps–yes, I’ll clean up after your hot sweaty sex. Just give me a generous allowance and a small room for my crafts, and we’ll be all set. :D)
Congratulations, Persephone! I’d love to be an aunt…someday…my brother’s only sixteen, you understand, I would be a bit perturbed if I were presented with a niece or nephew just yet.
