Some of you may remember my dilemma of a couple of weeks ago.
They stopped letting the dog run loose, and were keeping him chained up on a short chain leash in the (open) garage. Two times when I was walking my labrador Lucy, I stopped to check on him and he didn’t have much water or any food. He did have a carrier for a bed. I didn’t stay long, since I was technically trespassing, but there were piles of poop, some stepped in, and I felt so bad for him.
Today, my husband asked me if I wanted to go down there and offer them money for the dog. He felt really bad for him, too. So we walked down there, and asked if we could buy him. The wife said yes, for $100. We weren’t prepared to pay that much, and offered $50. She said no, and we walked away, feeling terrible. Then the husband called us back, and said yes, we could have him for $50! Woo-hoo! I told the mom that the little kids, all three less than 4 yrs old, could come visit anytime! She seemed happy about that.
He has been here all day, and has been very good. He ate a lot! And we gave him a bath. He’s nine months old, we were told. The husband spoke much better English than the wife, which was a good thing. He said with both of them working, and the small children, they just couldn’t keep up with the puppy.
So we have a poodle puppy! Pics will follow soon. His name is Ernie, like in My Three Sons. He’s our adopted son!
I feel so good.
