And it was just as fucking mindblowingly awesome as I remembered it to be.
I got my hands on five SURGE 12 packs when it was last restocked on Amazon. Note that that number is the maximum amount allowed per order; if left to my own desires, I would’ve ordered upwards of 10-15 cases. I gotta say, though, that I’ve never been more happy to have spent $70 on soda.
It was downright criminal that SURGE was discontinued in 2002 to begin with, & now that the minor miracle of its return has finally taken shape, I hereby proclaim that I shall indulge in the soda as much as humanly possible.
Yeah, I know that the hyperbole is strong in this post, but it all attests to my sheer joy at SURGE’s revival.
Does anybody have SURGE memories that they’d like to share? Has anyone else gotten the soda from Amazon over the past few days?
I might pick some up, but haven’t taken the plunge yet. Surge was my favorite soda during its run. Lime isn’t really my favorite flavor the way it used to be, though, so I’m not sure it’ll entirely hold up. But I’d be happy to try.
I also really miss dnL; it’s blasphemy but I think I might have liked it more than Surge.
The year was 1997. I am walking through the cafeteria of my high school when I notice a commotion by the soda machines. Upon investigation I discover the soda machine is spitting out Surge cans like it’s on hour 8 of the 24 hour stomach flu. I’ve never particularly enjoyed Surge, but hey free soda right? As I exit the cafeteria arms heavy with ill-gotten Surge a crowd descended upon me. “Free soda!” I exclaimed, passing cans left and right. That was the day, the day I became the Johnny Appleseed of overly caffeinated beverages. I’m still not 100% sure it wasn’t a marketing stunt by the good people at Coca-Cola.
