I went to Wisconsin over the weekend and acquired some nine year old cheddar cheese. (There’s really no point in going to Wisconsin if you’re not going to get cheese, you know.) This is the oldest cheese I’ve ever eaten, and you know what?
It’s from the Cheese Castle, in Kenosha. I love the Cheese Castle, and it’s not entirely because it’s called, you know, the Cheese Castle. Although it doesn’t hurt.
It’s a Mars Cheese Castle product, I believe. At least, that’s what’s on the wrapper.
I also picked up a white cheddar with black cherries from some other dairy while I was there. I look forward to trying it, white cheddar with cranberries is delicious and I do like cherries.
A shot should take care of that. Sometimes they make you use the shampoo…
(filed under things you learn while spending 8 years of your life in the Army).
Really stupid sideline…your quote with ‘cheddar’ reminded me of an old Army pal who called an STD he’d gained while I was stationed with him the aforementioned, unfortunate cheese.
sorry, didn’t mean to bring offense…
(exept for the fact that I seem to be lactose intolerant since I’ve turned 33 or so!)
Man, I miss cheese!
Not long ago, I drove from St. Louis to Fargo, North Dakota with the need to go to Wisconsin first. Myself and my daugter made it as far as ‘Eau de Claire’ (sp) before having to stop and grap a couple of hunks of cheese. It is, by far, the best cheese I’ve ever eaten and I can’t even tell you what the kind of cheese/curd it was. I’ll be back soon though…and I’m taking notes!
Just askin’ because it seems like supermarket cheese is getting more and more mild every year…even the supersharp ain’t cuttin’ it anymore…I want some crumbly stuff!
JayJay, I totally agree with that…even though every bite of cheese I take seems to do it’s best at making me feel like hell…I still can’t stop trying it every once in a while. A friend of mine has given me some OTC pills that seem to stop it. I’ll agree that sharp cheddar sure as hell ain’t SHARP anymore…it’s pretty disappointing that the sharpest cheese is in an aeresol can nowadays.
That’s my life!!! I still pick the days that I know I’m off work and eat cheese with abandon. Those are the same days I pick to dunk chocolate chip cookies in milk! I don’t mind living with the pain(you’ll have to trust me, it hurts!), so much as I mind my coworkers living without gas-masks! I have to be discreet with the cheese I eat.
