I helped build a Pirate Ship!

And not just a model, it’s 30 feet long and we had a heck of a party. It was my pal’s 51st birthday and it coincided with National Talk like a Pirate Day.

What do you think?

It was my vacation and this is the project my friend started a month ago. He was a bosun’s mate in the navy and another guy is an old eagle scout so the rigging is pretty accurate. We studied several ship designs and kinda mixed and matched. It’s really a storage shed and playhouse but the crows nest is a blast! The rope ladders are scary but cool. Next big thing to do is to paint the dang thing and tar the ropes.

I helped build the dock. the rails, and the wheel. I built the bar. The deck and rails are all installed with wood pegs. Why we didn’t just build a real ship is somewhat puzzling.

Why yes, we did love “Master and Commander” why do you ask?

Shiver me timbers! So you’re saying this wonderful creation is permanently landlocked? Arrr, ye cruel landlubber, that’s an evil fate for a pirate ship!

Avast, she’s a mighty fine one, that.

Looks like it was a great party, too.

All I have is pie-rats.

Yes, a very cool get-together. The animal-breads are a great touch. I’m guessing that you have quite a fine annual halloween event at your place.

Well, my place is in Akron. The pirate ship is in Burbank, and yes, our halloween parties in the past were a force to be reckoned with!

Damn, that’s really impressive!

Very cool! So that’s in California? We have a big pirate festival in Tampa every year called Gasparilla. Maybe your friends would like to come visit? Or invade, whatever works for them.
