I just had a really nice day kite skiing on Lake Superior. Warm air, firm snow, strong breeze. Miles and miles of nothing but the horizon in front of me, my giant pink kites above me, and my tracks disappearing into the distance behind me.
So did I.
I spent the night at a friend’s place. My friend made breakfast and coffee while I took a nice lemon verbena scented shower.
Then we went out in the sunny spring-like day and went shopping. I bought a cute pair of shorts and 3 dvd’s: Amelie, Donnie Darko, and Desperately Seeking Susan (hey, it was only $9 :p). Then my friend took me to a nice lunch.
Great, fun day with lotsa laughs.
I did too. My house is spotless. Now, I know that doesn’t sound like a great day, but for me it is. Then I took the kids to the park. It was almost 70 degrees today and the sky was beautifully clear. I even got some great pictures of the kids playing. And when we came home, the house was still clean. A very good day.
Lola, I love Desperately Seeking Susan.
So do I, Leifsmama - I was a little embarrassed to admit it, tho’!
The DVD has the original and alternate endings, and an audio commentary by the producers - that should be interesting!
Your day sounds great!
My day was one of planting native vegetation in my upper back yard. It was a balmy warm day, and I discovered seedlings popping up all over. So far, 11 out of 12 seedling types that I’ve identified have been natives (one was a weedy exotic); not bad for a piece of land that was scrapped bare by the builders.
I had a relatively nice day as well. Had an exquisite dream, woke up on time, feeling like I’m getting over my cold, my shift at work went by quickly, came home and had pizza, found some fun ElWood soundclips online, and came to hang at the Straight Dope for a while.
Still thinkin’ about that dream, though. Man, was that ever nice. First impeccable dream in quite a few years.
We went to Leu Gardens today. It’s in downtown Orlando, about three miles of trails through everything from Tropical Wetland to Arid Desert, Camellias, Rose Garden, White Garden, Butterfly Garden, Vegetable Garden, Herb Garden, plus a tour of the mansion.
We were writing down names of plants like mad. I now need a Pink Perfection camellia tree, a Hong Kong Orchid Tree, a Sweet Acacia, a Yellow Trumpet Tree, and some Indian Hawthorne.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Lowe’s carries anything but the hawthorne. Leu Gardens is having a plant sale next week…
When I took my dog to the groomer to be bathed, there were a few raindrops on the windshield, so I decided to scrap my plans to work in the yard. I attacked the closets in my bedroom instead. First, I emptied mine of everything except the stuff on hangers. I tossed a lot of stuff in the Goodwill bags, threw some things out, and neatly stowed the rest.
Then I set upon the disaster that was my husband’s closet. Without him around to protest that he needed all the crap in there, I tossed paint-covered shoed and torn jeans and shirts he hadn’t worn in at least 4 years. I found 3 empty boxes also - one from a GPS, one shoe box, and another small box of no apparent usefulness. All gone now.
All the while, I was doing laundry. I stripped and remade my bed, vacuumed, took my daughter to lunch, and generally got a lot done. It never rained, and by midafternoon, the sun was out, but I was too pooped to garden. That’s on tomorrow’s agenda. But today was definitely a good day.
I enjoyed the day too. Was a beautiful day here in S. PA. A friend from college stopped for a beer and helped me take down my collapsed awning. Over all, very relaxing.
