How Have You Spent Your Sunday So Far?

It’s been a very quiet day here so far. It is a little after 2 PM , and I am still in my jammies, and intend to stay that way until tomorrow. :stuck_out_tongue: I have:

Eaten a bowl of Coco Puffs for breakfast.

Done 4 loads of laundry, including dog bedding.

Folded 2 loads of laundry.

Changed my bed clothes.

Curled up on the couch with 4 dogs and 2 cats and watched The Two Towers. (for perhaps the 20th time…)

Closed off the back section of the back yard, since it is now a swamp with standing water, after roughly 7" of rain in 2 days (with more to come). I don’t want the dogs playing in that particular muck.

Etched on a model horse while watching TTT. (Etching is the process is scratching the factory paint off CAREFULLY with an exacto knife, in the direction a horse’s hair grows, to add markings, or in this case, turn it from a chestnut into a roan.)

Messed with my virtual kennel on the site www.showdog.com . (If you like dogs and have any interest in showing, you HAVE to try it !! It is addictive, almost as much fun as the real thing!)

So… What about the rest of ya?

Getting ready for company tomorrow. The police are coming over to search my house.

Up early.
Drank coffee and piddled around online.
Took one of the Rottweilers for a pretty long run.
Went & did a painting estimate.
Ate oatmeal, a banana, and apple and peanut butter.
Worked with neighbor on yard work (we share tools), picked up dog poop, cleaned off back deck, restacked firewood, repotted some houseplants.
Fell asleep on couch reading a book.
Woke up.
Drank coffee and piddled around online…
back to square one! Guess I should take the other Rottweiler for a run.

Didn’t get laundry done as planned, but I’m out of regular undies & down to the thongs so I really need to do that too.

Okay, Earl, I’ll ask.

Why are the police searching your house tomorrow?

I knitted, transplanted an aloe plant, and helped my daughter with her cooking preparations for dinner (she and her brother are having a contest.)

Here as well. I awoke to a snuggling cat grooming me this morning around 10:30 and settled in to watch Meet the Press, featuring Joe Biden Can’t Shut Up and an interview with a few folks who wrote a fine little book about the war in Iraq. (As a native Buffalonian, I mark for Tim Russert.) After that, I put on some clothes and headed over to school. After making a stop for a mocha and a bagel, I settled in to work on a journal note that has a deadline of tomorrow to be considered for publication. I don’t think I’ll be up for publication because of the fairly narrow scope of the journal, but it would be a politically adept move on their part - a Public Law, Policy and Ethics journal only a few years old containing an article on federal Indian law would pop up a lot of searches from students in the West who would end up (I hope) citing to our journal. Make a name for ourselves, and such.

But I digress.

I’m not feeling great, because of a ridiculously stupid bender on Friday night. (I spend Fridays with several friends of mine, and my tolerance is so much greater than theirs that I often end up babysitting them. They decided to turn the tables on me, and thus, I’m still a little achy from getting sick for the first time in almost a year.) With that in mind, once I finish editing my note, I’m going to get into sweats and warmups and snuggle with my cat for the remainder of the evening.

Breakfast: two veggie sausages, half a cantaloupe, and a couple cups of tea.

Then I walked over to the library to return the (very amusing) new Jasper Fforde book, and took the Lincoln bus up to Rodgers Park, where I had my eyebrows threaded. Had a falafel for lunch, and then was drawn by a mysterious force to the kosher bakery across the street that forced me - forced, I tell you! - to buy a bag of rugelach. And one hamentaschen, which was delicious.

And then I came home, where the mysterious force made me eat a bunch of the rugelach. I have to put it away now, lest there not be any left for tomorrow, as the rationalization behind buying it was that I would bring it in for my coworkers.

I still have to clean my apartment, write an essay thingie for the Peace Corps, and send some emails. I’m feeling strangely unmotivated to do any of those things.

Coffee and SDMB.

I bought a new mouse for the PC.

Got some spray paint.

Bought sliding screens for the new French doors, only the top rail is too long even though the screens are the same size as the doors and are made by the same company. Called the handyman, who needs to come out anyway to do some trim work on the doors.

The old swinging screen door for the old French doors won’t fit the more modern ones, so I took the Ikea brace off of it (one never knows when such a thing might come in handy) and put the door out front. The old French doors and the old front door got snapped up pretty quickly. The screen door is wood-framed and is very nice.

I’ve been awake for over six hours, and I haven’t gotten round to eating anything yet. I should probably look into that.

What?

Woke up at 8:30 (late for me), after sleeping 11 hours.

Cleaned up kitty barf.

Turned on the computer. Read the Dope, chatted witha couple of people. Ran a virus scan, looking for some particular bug that’s messing with me. Found it. Eradicated it, I hope.

Looked at eBay, bid on a shall lamp.

Set my fantasy TV lineup.

Ate some oatmeal.

Turned off the computer, got dressed.

Sat down to read.

Decided to take a nap instead; slept over an hour.

Got up. Turned on computer. Chatting with someone and reading the Dope.

After a bout of something intestinal that sent me to the ER via paramedic on Friday, I’ve been absolutely lazy all weekend - and choking down soup. I did manage a doughnut today, and we’re going to try spaghetti tonight, but I’ve been subsisting on mostly Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup and toast all weekend.

I’ve taken a nap both days (not unusual, though - pregnancy does that to you), and we’ve been watching DVDs. ElzaHub’s off to visit his grandmother right now in the hospital, and I’m watching some first season Farscape.

We were supposed to see a play in Ann Arbor, but ended up cancelling for obvious reasons. So I’ve just been reading most of the time.

I do have quite a nifty and large bruise on my left arm from where the paramedic tried to get the IV in, though (he failed). It’s in the shape of a sitting cat.

E.

Got up around 9, read the sunday paper, paid my car insurance bill online, ate a spaghetti sauce burrito (creative leftover usage is my specialty), now I’m surfing the Dope, trying to forget tomorrow’s a workday.

I woke at seven, turned over and re-woke a bit after half nine. Left home at half ten to take my aunt out to lunch. Got back after six, had supper and am now doing a bit of browsing.

Got up. (No, please, save your applause. Thank you! Thanks!)

Decided to make coffee.

Found coffee grounds.

Discovered I have no coffee filters.

Considered making coffee with paper towels.

Discovered I have no paper towels.

Considered making coffee with paper anything.

Following a simple experiment involving the sink and faucet, determined that filtering my coffee with the “Friends of the Library” circular is a pretty bad idea.

Considered boiling coffee on the stove.

Remembered I have no milk.

Remembered I don’t like coffee without milk.

Remembered I have Baileys.

Considered coffee + Baileys = good. Considered that Baileys + 10am = nothing gets done today.

Remembered coffee boiled on stove is usually chunky. Abandoned coffee plan.

Decided to clean out a closet.

Decided I needed to listen to music while cleaning.

Found my iPod.

Made a “cleaning the closet” playlist.

Looked for my ear buds.

Found my tax return. Briefly considered whether it would make a better filter than the “Friends of the Library” circular. Decided it would not.

Found my ear buds. Advanced on the closet.

Unfortunately, the closet had books in it. Spent two hours with my books. (No, no actual “cleaning” got done. But there was some rearranging.)

Got dressed to go out. Put on black boots. Put on brown jacket. But black boots + brown jacket = fashion faux pas. Put on brown boots. Remembered that it might rain, and black boots are more water proof. Put black boots back on. Took off brown jacket and put on black jacket. Found black purse. Took off black jacket; too warm. Remembered I turned the heat up while in the closet “cleaning.” Turned the heat down again.

Remembered I have to meet a friend for lunch. And bring lunch. Used my psychic powers to determine that she wants the other salad I was considering ordering for myself. (Amazing!) Ordered lunch.

Made dinner reservations. Resigned self to having to cancel them later if friend can’t get off work. Wallowed in self-pity. Decided self-pity is overrated.

Checked the Dope before heading out. Decided to impress my fans with my chock-a-block full day.

And it’s barely 1 o’clock!

Woke up at 9:30.

Drank some Coke and read the SDMB.

Made a bunch of CDs.

Went out to bask in the glow of the yard work I spent hours doing yesterday, only to find that the neighbor’s tree has dropped so many stupid leaves since yesterday, it looks like I haven’t done any work out there at all.

Worked on my database. Had a cup of tea.

Just got back from getting groceries, and saw a woman there who used to work where I do.

Planning to put away 80-odd CDs that are piled up on and around my desk.

07:45 Children woke me. Wife got up.
08:15 Son woke me. Wife went to bed.
08:30 Went up. Put on Finding Nemo.
08:45 Went to bed. Had sex.
09:00 Took a shower.
09:30 Checked the news on the Internet.
09:45 Made brunch.
10:00 Ate brunch.
11:00 Went out in the wood with sledge and son.
12:30 Came back.
13:00–15:00 Tried to play Combat Mission Afrika Korps.
15:30 Had something to eat with family.
16:00 Went out with son and sledge.
18:00 Had dinner.
19:00 Read books to son and daughter.
20:00 Played Combat Mission Afrika Korps.
22:00 Browsed through the SDMB.

Woke up around 8:00 for a potty break, and had to let the dog out too. Went back to bed until around 11:00. Got up and watched TV for a while. Hubby made lunch around noonish (turkey sammiches, mac-n-cheese, and pickles). We counted my inventory (Mary Kay_ so we’re ready to get our taxes done. Took a shower and got dressed and presentable. Went and made a product delivery, and chatted with her for a while. Came home, opened up every single window in my house, and got online.

After a bit of browsing, I’ll make dinner. Probably chicken noodle soup.

Yesterday I:

  • got up at about 7.30
  • went to mass
  • came home and did some gardening
  • had lunch with my sister, brother-in-law and nieces
  • spent several hours doing some research for an essay for one of my law subjects
  • had dinner
  • went for my usal 8km walk
  • went to bed at about 10.30

Awoke/addressed bodliy functions/watched Sunday Morning while having a couple of stovetop expressos/flossed ‘n’ brushed/made bed/watched Mighty Joe Young/went for a 16-mile bike ride/took shower/had chunky herb-roasted chicken soup ‘n’ garlic bread for lunch/read some of Buffalo Bill’s America:William Cody and The Wild West Show/online ever since.

Lincoln is a street in Chicago, the bus that runs on it is the Lincoln bus. (CTA bus route #11.)

Rodgers Park is a neighborhood on the far North Side of Chicago. It smells of curry. Mmm…curry…

Anyway, there are lots of little beauty parlors in the area that do eyebrow threading, which I prefer to waxing because, well, it’s cheaper. (Usually ~$5.) I go every couple weeks or my eyebrows begin to take over my face.
