I just lucked into $50 Amazon gift card! What should I buy?

Just won a $50 gift card to Amazon. I could buy something boring and practical or I could mine the collective Dope-Mind for something truly unique and interesting!

(also, my first post in a long, long time. How’s it going’?)

Amazon sells pretty much any item you could want to buy. Since it’s basically a cash equivalent, so why not give some details on what you’re looking for? Books? Clothing? Tools? Something artsy?

Of course, you’ll probably get told to sock it away for a rainy day, but that’s the dope for you.

Put it towards a Prime membership.

(I work in a shipping center so Prime keeps me employed.)

Hey, thanks! Amazon shipping is one of my favorite things.

As it happens, I received a $50 Amazon gift card for Valentine’s Day. I used it to complete my collection of Quincy DVDs by pre-ordering the final season. The remainder went toward a TWSBI Tri-Tech iSmart pen. I got one for my birthday, and I love it, so I wanted a second one for my office.

Then again, Jack Klugman and multi-function pens might not be your thing.

Here are the things on my current Amazon Wish List that could be purchased for $50.

Molecular Gastronomy Starter Kit - $47.99

Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries - 400g Jar - $22.79

FrogLube FrogTube 5Pc Kit (1/1.5/4Oz) - $34.29

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player - $30.57

Bahco 2444 Carpenter Mora Multi Purpose Knife -$9.75

So my advice is to buy one of those things, because I have excellent taste and sage wisdom.

I hate to say, “It depends,” but it depends. What do you want/need right now? Clothing? Books? Household tools? A cell phone case? A good set of earphones?

I’m already Prime, baby!

Can confirm. Would lose.

I want to find something I wouldn’t necessarily want/need…something outside of my wheelhouse.

Get a horse’s head mask. If you’ve got some problematic business associates, it could . . . come in handy.

Alternately, uranium ore is always a crowd pleaser. Or wolf pee. It’s genuine!

More seriously, you can buy an actual piece of an ancient meteorite, which sounds pretty cool to me. ThinkGeek also has a piece of the Moon and Mars.

All-in-all good suggestions so far, but this is ONE thing that had slipped my mind.

Socks.
