I just saw the most tacky wedding thing ever.

So I was working at my 'puter when I heard a big ruckus outside. Glancing out the window, I saw a parade of three limos driving along, the first one honking the first eight notes of “Here Comes the Bride” over and over again.

And it wasn’t even honking it well. The third and seventh notes were flat. Man, that was irritating.

Well, if that’s the tackiest wedding thing you’ve ever seen, you must not have seen The Chicken Dance…

Aw, that’s nothing. I was sure this was going to be about a cash bar at the reception.

Tackier than a Krispy Kreme wedding cake?

Using a foot-tall Hello Kitty doll as a ring pillow?

You want to talk about tacky? Check out today’s Weird Earl: Welcome to Pay for Cynthia’s Wedding! Yes, it’s another begging website. In this one, we’re invited to help pay for some woman’s dream wedding. This isn’t just tacky, this is nervy, as well. We must do everything in our power to keep Miss Manners from seeing this. I’m sure that she’d turn up her toes and faint.

Yeah, I read that Weird Earl and all I could think was…

“I’m from DC…they’re from DC…please don’t let them be anyone I know.”

Hell, even I’m a little flustered!

Me too!

Unbelievable. (but I guess they just can’t help having ‘expensive tastes’ ). Assholes!

Maybe they couldn’t afford a band.

Oh look! My Weird Earl submission made the cut! Isn’t it awful? I also sent a link over to Etiquette Hell.

friedo, check out that Etiquette Hell link. There’s a lotta competition for the “Tackiest Wedding Ever” title.

They’ve taken all content off the site, apparently because there was threats made to their safety.

Whaddayou talking about? I just checked that link, and they have anecdotes going back to 2000.

Oh…you mean “Cynthia’s Wedding”, not “Etiquette Hell.” :embarrassed smiley:

But as far as that goes, I love this:

Uh…yeah.

of course, begging for someone else to pay for your tacky wedding is a great use of time

Wow. I just had an email from Cynthia yesterday. I had emailed her (without a contribution, of course!) and asked how it was coming. I also asked if she planned a followup after the wedding. She responded by saying that she did plan a followup and that “we aren’t counting on too many contributions.” Wise.
