I just watched Clerks for the first time.

Hee hee hee. Whenever I mishear something, I turn to my roommate and say “Did he just say making fuck?”

Clerks II was extremely funny and good. I was really looking forward to it and it failed to disappoint. (Yes, that means I loved it).
Clerks, MallRats and Dogma were awesome; I can watch them over and over again. Chasing Amy was okay, but I think it suffered from too much Ben.
Jay and Silent Bob was good, but watch the 3 above first if possible.
Jersey girl was a sappy, ill-conceived disappointment.

A must see for any Kevin Smith fan is the two DVD “An Evening with Kevin Smith”.
IMHO: It has almost four hours of hilarious stories. Kevin Smith’s stories and answers are more humorous than any current stand-up accept Lewis Black.

Jim {unabashed Kevin Smith Fan, just saw him live in RedBank last Week for the Netflix Roadshow Q&A and Clerks screening}

I was there, too.

Monday was fun, but I ran out of steam and ditched the line around 7 (after 6 hours of standing there and getting sunburned). But, Tuesday night was sublime. *That’s * the way to see a movie - outdoors, on the water, nice breeze, big screen, and 2000 other fans

The Q&A was fun. I had a terrible seat for the movie though.
If you are that close to Redbank, you should consider showing up for the 2nd Jersey Area Dopers: Dopefest on Saturday the 16th of September.
Looks like a lot of fellow Kevin Smith fans will be there.

Jim

About the biggest pair you ever seen, dingleberry!

Sometimes I wish I’d first seen Clerks in the last few years instead of when I was about 13. I’m in a much better position to appreciate it now, but none of it is a surprise. I actually got more laughs out of Clerks 2, although it wasn’t a better movie than the original.

I’ve always kind of liked Chasing Amy, probably because I keep falling for lesbians. sigh

My wife enjoys it, but won’t watch last fifteen minutes or so- she says it’s like a train wreck.

Not only a great quote, but could be the longest user name evar!

I have rented Pulp Fiction for my dining and dancing pleasure this week. I shall report immediately to this thread with my reviews and thoughts. It won’t be tonight. I’ve been up since 2am. Curse you, insomnia!

My favorite line – it cracks me up every time. Sometimes I think I am a 13 year old boy trapped in the body of a 45 year old woman.

I’ve only seen Chasing Amy once and I didn’t like it. Mostly because of Too Much Ben Affleck. I loved Dogma, though, despite Ben. Probably because, in that one, Ben played an asshole. Ben Affleck is, IMO, uniquely well qualified to portray assholes. An asshole, in fact, is the only type of character he can portray realistically. I also loved Mallrats, and very much enjoyed Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back – Ben’s role in that being, mercifully, brief.

I haven’t seen Clerks II, godammit. I was going to go see it by myself, but my husband said he would go with me, so I waited. But he pussed out every time we made plans to go. Then we bought a boat and had to go to Florida to pick it up and, by the time we got back, the movie wasn’t being played at our nearest theater anymore. It’s still playing at the next-nearest theater, but only one showing a day, at 10:30 PM… Maybe I’ll go tonight anyway, since you all say it’s worth it.

I remember back at the height of the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, I was so sick of hearing about “Are blowjobs sex?” on every fuckin’ netword, so I threw in my tape of Clerks, only to find that I’d last stopped it about thirty seconds into the “You sucked 36 dicks?” scene. Can’t win for losing, sometimes.

Clerks II is definitly worth it. It’s only a matter of time before someone signs up here as Pillowpants the Pussy Troll and is summarily banned.

Dude, won’t you be excited to learn that an animated version of the funeral scene is included in the 10th anniversay Clerks DVD. No reading necessary!
