it was an autoplayed Subaru ad in English. This has also been happening to me on a regualr basis, but I usually have my mute on. This time I was not so lucky. I heard an ad and had to scroll up the page to find out what the heck it was.
Serious reply: See if you can right-click and copy the link location and provide that to the SDMB so that they can reference that in the complaint.
Does anyone know if the advertisers are tricky enough to capture the right-click and thereby make that debugging task problematic?

Mine have been Flash objects and right clicking doesn’t show any useful properties.
Does anyone think viewing the source (Firefox: Tools>Web Developer>Page Source, IE: View>Source) would provide useful information?

I’ve recently been getting sound commercials too.
Just a few moments ago (~4:22pm EST) I got my first one with both sound and video.
It was a Skittles commercial about 20sec long. Somebody please tell 'em I hate Skittles!
Another one at 8:02pm EST.

Why don’t the site admins and moderators see for themselves what we’re reporting for themselves?
These self-starting full-motion full-sound advertisements are pervasive and prevalent. This last week, every page I’ve opened has had one of these ads in the jump between first post of the page and second. And they run consecutively; one ends, and the next begins in the same spot. Frankly, without extraordinary measures (AdBlock for example), you can’t avoid them.
But we have to point out individual instances? The site management surely read the site, if only to moderate and administer the community. And they don’t have actionable information from that?
This is my confused face.
To put it baldly, why does it fall to the user community to police a business relationship between the site and its advertising contractors?
Paid members (and admins and moderators) don’t see the ads. They can see them if they’re viewing the Dope while not logged in, but I imagine most of them just stay logged in most of the time.
