I knew her when...Audra McDonald of Mister Sterling

I was impressed tonight when I turned on the T.V. and the first thing I saw was Audra starring in the T.V. show as the senator’s chief of staff. We went to school together, we were both in a gifted and talented 4th grade elementary school class in Fresno, CA. Back then, she showed great singing and acting talent in all school plays and performed in the kid’s part of the local dinner theater group, the Good Company Players. She always talked about her dreams of becoming famous, and it’s exciting that now she has achieved them. I have followed her career a little after she won her Tony awards in the 1990s, and I’ve bought one of her CDs. In 4th grade, she and I sometimes didn’t get along for some juvenille reason, and I remember her making faces and glaring at me in class. Perhaps our tiffs aided her future dramatic career? It’s just amazing that I had a connection long ago with a current celebrity. I thought she did well tonight and I wish her the best.

Cool  , sixseven. And in case no one has said it yet, welcome to the boards!

In a way, you have a connection with another celebrity, too. There’s a regular contributor to these boards, username aha, who was in a popular rock band back in the 60’s called The Five Americans.

And I thought I was cool cause I spotted her at Broadway on Broadway in 1995! She was singing in the Chorus of “Carosel,” and I was so impressed I made a point to ask her name and get her autograph. Though she was in the chorus, she has that quality that made me notice her.

sixseven, have you considered writing her a fan letter and reminding her who you are? She’d probably get a kick out of you remembering her and following her career.

HeyHomie, thanks for the welcome. Medstar, maybe I’ll look her up and drop her a line, if I can find where to reach her.
