I Know What Yer Pet is Thinkin'

Owwwwww, my brain hurts!!! I spent all day yesterday at a PhotoShop seminar and learned many, many things. Trouble is they are swirling around in my head with all the other sh… er, stuff.

With any luck, swampy, there will be a cure for “oldtimers disease” by the time a sweet young thing like you has to worry about it. Grammy Anachi thinks that Grampy has Alzheimers. She bases this on a diagnosis from a crappy doctor who incidently put her on medication for congestive heart failure which she never had. She can’t remember what you’ve said to HER from one hour to the next, so I ask…just exactly who’s got the problem?

The studio looks faaaaabulous

My travertine floor is almost done. There is only the foyer floor left and the tile guys are gonna do a fancy diamond pattern with a contrasting “dot” border. A dot is a very small (one and a half inch maybe) stone tile used for decoratin’ if anyone was wonderin’.

fcm, my vote is on the tapeworms as well, specially if kitty is a true feline and bringing home little furry presents. Bunnies are notorious carriers.

Topics? We don’ need no steenking topics!

And Lissa, you live in Canada! Spring doesn’t start until May, or sometimes June!

I just saw the Real Estate listing for my sister’s second house; the one I have half interest in. I’ve only been badgering them for 3 years to sell the stoopit thing so both of us can get out of our respective financial Hells (although I’ve now climbed far enough up that cliff that I have one hand on flat, solid ground).

How I got half interest in it is a long boring story having to do with my mother’s estate.

Today is a good day…

Hey all. I’ll join the crowd (I’m such a follower) and offer my sympathies to swampy . Alzheimer’s is just terrible - my grandfather had it. I know it was hard on my dad. I was interested in an article a few weeks ago that was about a study - higher levels of stress leading to a higher incidence of Alzheimer’s. I’m a person who stresses herself for stupid reasons - so I gots to stop that. I don’t think that’s a worry for swampy though.

And now for the good stuff. I had a job review yesterday - and I did very well, thank you. Shows how well they know me. Anyway, in addition to a lovely raise, I have a bonus coming in the next check. I’ve got to decide what to do with the money. Of course, I haven’t done my taxes for this year, so I could be using part of it for that - but I prefer to think of this as free money. I still have $50 to spend at Amazon and $20 for Barnes and Noble. I’ve had them since December, and haven’t spent it - what’s wrong with me!

My brother was supposed to visit this weekend, but his wife has been sick, so it might not happen. I’d be sad, but they’re close enough so they can come visit at short notice.

Susan

Aaah! That should be Lissla (and I even previewed).

Mr. Lissar couldn’t find anyone to cover his shift, so he’s going to work. At least he gets to sit down a lot.

swampy, I’m really sorry. Alzheimer’s is awful- my uncle has it.
Still have to mop, clean the kitchen and tidy, but I’ve done the sweeping and vacuuming. And pack Mr. Lissar’s Nourishing Strengthening Lunch. With extra fruit juice. Also I should have a nap, because it’s my day off, dammit!

Bailey just threw up. Cat for sale.

The OP needs a topic or how will you know if your hijacking the thread or not? Huh? How will you know?

But not to worry. Next week’s MMP is so totally Jake. I just have to think of a clever title.
The MMP: The Straight Dope Message Board’s longest running serial thread!

Puggy, was that beginning photoshop or the advanced kind? I ask because I’ve been thinking of taking a newbie workshop and am afraid of brain overload like yours. But I’m pretty basic in computer stuff. Sadly basic. Couldn’t figure out how to work my e-mail basic.

Crock pot beef bourginioungne tastes just fine. It doesn’t save you any prep time though. Just thought you ought to know. Sean Factotum, I wonder if your meatloaf will make you any gravy if you use the oven. My mom’s never made any worth mentioning, but then we were heathens who didn’t have gravy on much of anything.

That’s easy. Just say “Nobody move - I’m taking this thread to Cuba!”. Hijacked, easy as pie.

Susan
And I like pie.

Hello,
The Newbie’s back…
VunderBob…that’s She…and I’m only here to pad my puny post count…
Thanks for the welcome.

Rue DeDay I guess in the future we’ll just air those ‘anal glands’ right here on the board. Yuck!
Sorry but the smilies stay, I’m with Bumbazine on that one.

'Cept our kitty never goes out. He’s strictly an indoor feline. I know he’s jealous of the doggy, since doggy gets to pee and poo in the yard, but such is life. He’s an indoor cat and that’s that.

He exacts his revenge by eating my houseplants. The brat.

It was a basic seminar but most of the people in the class were fellow “blunderers-around-the-program-for-a-few-years.” I bought a quick-start book whilst I was there because I knew I’d need it even with the copious notes I took. I’d figured out how to crop pics and do image adjustments but that was about it. That was like using Microsoft Word as a typewriter. I’d say go for it, you’ll come away with more than you had when you went in.

I’m very glad you have a topic. I don’t know if you recall, but once eons back, before the MMP rose to cult status, I suggested a topic to you. For the life of me, I can’t remember what it was now, but at the time, I thought it was inspired. And you took my suggestion. And the thread sank like a stone.

But you still stayed my friend. Is it any wonder I stalk…, er, read your threads so devotedly?? You also notice that I never make suggestions any more?? I just worship you silently from afar.

Anal glands, then. Not fun. Be prepared to be squirted with the worst-smelling stuff ever. Yuck.

I got the mat. It is cool.

Welcome, everyone who’s new or new-ish, especially HillKat, the newest.

You know, the more I learn about cats the less I understand why people allow them into their homes. (I coulda put a smilie here, but I dinnit.)

In other news, I just found out that Microsquash Publisher prints envelopes on the entirely other side of the feed tray from where you tell it to print them. This is especially annoying when you only have one envelope. Of course I printed on a plain piece of paper first, 'cause I know that Microsquash Word tells you to put the envelope in the other way round from how it’s actually gonna print on it, so I was already wary.
I pine for the days when I worked on big computers. You know, the ones where the operating systems and software were written by people old enough to shave.

Hi HillKat waves

They were playing Pressure? Around here, they usually only play Piano Man.

No, no luck with the peppermint M&Ms, but I did find white chocolate/peppermint Swoops on sale, which made me very happy.

Btw, you have no idea how much it tickles me that you associate that (or any) song with me, and you hardly even know me. And now, of course, I’ll associate that song with you. :stuck_out_tongue:

My BIL does the same thing, and it drives me batty. I can use the same cup all day, rinsing it out it if I drink something different.

How was the Stagg chili? Any good? I usually make my own, because I don’t like it too hot, but I always end up making vast amounts and we get plenty sick of it by the end. If the Stagg is any good, maybe I’ll just buy it instead.

If you don’t buy that doormat for you, will you buy it for me? I’m only about half joking, here; that’s exactly the sort of doormat I would have.

 If they were mine, they’d have been gone so fast! I don’t think I could have kept them a week, much less since Dec.!

I think that’s all, for now.

Can’t you put a piece of Scotch tape on your cat’s butthole to try trapping any worms?

Thank you (curtsy) Lissla! Long time since I’ve been newest

FaerieChatMom

with no offense meant to Tupug Anachi for contradiction…tapeworms are actually carried by fleas. Your animal chews at it’s fleas when they bite, in the process they swallow the little darlings…and bot-a-bing…tapeworms. It totally common and since the doggy goes out, I’m sure fleas come in. It could be anal glands also, but I’d try the tape worm med (Droncit) first. We’ll get really gross and tell you that you can help determine if kitty has tapeworms…keep an eye on her backside, look for little white bits…look pretty much like white rice. If you see any, it’s a dead-on that kitty has tapeworms.
Hope it helps!

HillKat

Mice are also notorious worm carriers, and considering where you live, I wouldn’t be surpised if the waste of oxygen caught a couple when you weren’t looking.

Otherwise, I also say anal glands. I also say it’s worth the $$ to pay the vet to do the expressing.

Back to your regularly scheduled snarkiness.

[/serious]

Naw Bumba, kitties are generally good to have around. I’ve had 'em my whole life and not a one has had problems back there. Occasional recreational barfing with Violet, but otherwise good times.

Hey, looka me! I just figured out how to bold stuff without putting in the code stuff. See Puggy, this is how basic I am. But I really would like to know how to photoshop stuff and contrary to a lot of indicators, I have a functioning brain, so I should muddle through. Maybe. Now to figure out a way to get the school to pay for it.

Hey Rue! Is next week gonna be about Peeps? Huh? Did I ruin it a second year in a row? Peeps!
