I Like Circus Peanuts

i had no idea what they were… why would anyone eat these when they could eat real peanuts and not some flouro orange crap…

(rips open a bag of witchety grubs and pineapple lollies)

Because they are sugar congealed into a somewhat mushy bite of awesome. Think giant-sized marshmallows from Lucky Charms cereal.

Only better. Much, much better.

I almost screamed when I read that. And no, not in the good way.

Love circus peanuts…and like most marshmallow treats, I love them even more when they’re stale. Sometimes i pinch the bag at the gas station to gauge how stale they are and if too fresh, I won’t buy them. hahaha!

–If that’s a euphemism for something, I think I’d rather not know what it is.

Isn’t that redundant? How could you even tell if they’re stale? They’re born stale!

Noooooo, not redundant. When they are fresh they are gummy. Stale, however, they are the nectar of the gods.

I don’t think they’re pitched in competition with actual peanuts - they’re just a kind of candy.

WTF is a witchety grub???

Imagine if you will, a white maggot the size of a hotdog sausage.

Well, not that gummy. They tend to be a bit chewy and sticky. The older/drier they get, the less sticky they are.

But they’re never anything like gummibears/gummiworms, etc.

I loooooove circus peanuts! Mmmm… I can eat an entire bag in one go… and I’m not talking a little grab-bag either, I mean the BIG bags I can buy at Farm & Fleet full of yummy smooshy peanut-shaped goodness… mmmm… I eat them at work and drive my coworkers nuts.

Now I’m all hungry for some. Going to have to drive over to F&F tomorrow and get me some.

I think they serve them at Hogwarts.

And you don’t need mustard because they have their own sauce already inside.

I like all candy, ergo even Circus Peanuts. However, on a 1(best)-10(worst) scale they rank close to 10.

Bumping this old thread because Cecil’s column is back on the front page.

I fall into the “circus peanuts are OK but not my first choice of candy” category.

gags slightly

This is about how I feel. I’ll eat 'em and enjoy 'em but they’re not my first choice.

It’s actually the other way around:

Lucky Charms were created in 1962 by John Holahan. General Mills management challenged a team of product developers to use the available manufacturing capacity from either of General Mills’ two principal cereal products— Wheaties or Cheerios—and do something unique. Holahan came up with the idea after a visit to the grocery store in which he decided to mix Cheerios with bits of Brach’s Circus Peanuts.[URL=“Lucky Charms - Wikipedia”]
