Why weren’t there any white women on the Court?
Hey, nitwit. If I’m such a racist, my thinking must be really weak, right? So why don’t you try countering my initial post showing the weak-mindedness of your OP.
You people are pathetic.
 What a racist remark!!! Unless, by “you people” I mean imbeciles who cry racism at every opportunity. Which I do.
I’m sorry the OP lured you in with promises of candy and hookers. Or hookers named Candy, or candy hookers… anyway considering the group of people who hang out here, I think the board’s surprisingly tolerant of racism. Everybody’s quick to condemn racist comments by Free Republic posters and public figures, but my experience is that mild to moderate racism - asking if black people are dumber than white people, for example, without using the word “nigger” - is more often met here by comments like “The science is inconclusive” than “That’s racist and stupid.”
And you people are racist. You people deserve not one bit of consideration from me, only more of the same broad brush strokes you people give minorities.
And by ‘you people’ I mean magellan.
But, but…the NBA.
Then is should be soooooo easy to show holes in my analysis of your OP. But you haven’t done so. I guess, unsurprisingly, you’re not up to the task. You’d rather try to shout down dissent of your world view by both false and fallacious ad hominem attacks.
It just keeps getting better and better.
Could it be that until the early sixties most women were homemakers, and the raising of children and such meant many, many fewer women were getting the education and experience to make them merit consideration? For most our history it was taken as a given that a woman’s place is in the home.
Why do you think it was?
Obviously, because most of the people in charge of picking the nominees were sexist.
Even better - the founding fathers were concerned about letting in ANY Catholics. Patrick Henry discussed perhaps letting them come and work the fields, rather than having all of these black slaves. It was a question of which would be a bigger issue over time - African slaves or or Papists ( as they were seen by the enlightened Protestants of the colonies).
Are you sure you haven’t confused magellan with someone else, like maybe LonesomePolecat? I’ve never noticed any racism in anything magellan has posted.
This racist SDMB poster doesn’t understand that spewing on about white people’s accomplishments to the exclusion of others comes off as racist.
Who is magellan01?
That is correct!
But you’re making it sound like it just so happened that women were in the home. They were there because most men, and people, thought women had lesser minds and honestly couldn’t have handled being educated. That they were like children–not bad, but just not suited to the rigors of such things, had to be given limited rights/responsibilities.
I don’t disagree with this. I’d just add that a lot of women held those opinions, as well. Not that that matters much. I’m just not sure what point Dio was trying to raise. That our society looked at women very differently than men, (to the detriment of all, I’d add) is plain.
I think the difference is that your description makes it sound like things just happened to be differently whereas others might describe it as systematic oppression.
Everyone’s missing the most important aspect of the clip.
At the beginning, when it shows a bit of Obama’s speech to (I think it was?) the NAACP, check out his skin tone. He’s obviously had it darkened for the occasion.
It shouldn’t. Not when it is the answer to the question. Why is it that the first 43 Presidents were all white? Answer: it was basically a white country. For the vast majority of the time it was about 90% white. Pretty much every thing of note that happened to any person was happening to a white person. This is unsurprising since the largest group that was not white was subjugated—first held in slavery and then held down through laws and policies that made it impossible for any one of them to have achieved such a high office.
How is that in any way racist? Please be specific.
Or, you can further align with that nitwit OP and revert to the oh-so-dependable ad hominem.
It sounds like they would hope that that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a woman who hasn’t lived that life.
Which is obviously crazy talk, and racist and sexist to boot.
Regards,
Shodan
I’m sorry, you forgot to phrase you bigoted spew in the form of a question. We cannot accept that.

Thanks for clearing that up.
