I’m from the government and I’m here with your MMP

Almost quit o’clock. Time to forage for Chinese carry-out in a strange neighborhood, because She Who Must Be Obeyed demands it.

ETA: Woo hoo! First on the page!

Npt much to add. I just had the strangest phone call from work. First she said I was cancelled for tomorrow. This sucks. I asked if they needed me to come in at all, even for a little bit. Instead of just saying you’re cancelled, have a nice day, she went into this whole thing, “do you want the day off? It’s a Halloween–you had asked to switch for the trick or treaters” stuff.

I was confused. I had not asked for the day off, but to work the earlier shift, instead. I explained and said that I’d like to make some money, but if they don’t need me, they don’t need me. She then told me how many pts we have lined up. No PM nurse, so I will be doing the discarges. OK. So, she says for me to come in at 0530, but “just so you know, registry gets cancelled first.” I said, “oh, I keep forgetting that I am registry; I’m sorry; of course I should be cancelled for tomorrow.”

And she says, “no-just come in at 0530.”

WTH? I’m going in because I need the money. The passive/aggressive guilt trip I can do without. Sheesh.

MamaTigs, it is nice. I think all Canadians are eligible for parental leave at 55% pay. It’s especially helpful for those of us whose work doesn’t offer mat leave (mind does, but only for those who work full time). I’m very grateful for the year (almost) off.
I went out to lunch with Mum, and then we went and fainted at diaper prices. Right now I’m doing more laundry and lying around.

Busy day - most of it spent in the car. We had breakfast at Friendly’s in Annapolis, stopped at WalMart in Baltimore, then went to Clayworks Supply for some clay stuff. Afterwards, we went to the Dr office, arriving about 15 minutes early, and we were seen an hour late… But it was good news - **FCD ** is going back to the office on Monday, so yay!

On the way back, we stopped at a craft store and I got some stencils and yarn (for 2 different projects) and we got back home a little after 3. Eight hours - long day on the run.

Now I need to decide what to do for supper - mebbe leftover bean soup? I’m still sorta stuffed from breakfast. I asked if I could get a mushroom-swiss omelette, and altho it wasn’t on the menu, the manager whipped one up for me - chock FULL of fungi and cheese. It was yummerrific, and it had some staying power, I tell ya!

Is it Friday yet??

There’s a Chinese Restaurant a couple of exits past yours on 664 in Western Branch. Take the first Portsmouth Blvd exit past the 58 exit, stay in the right hand lane, and you’ll see a couple of strip malls down that way. One or two of them have Chinese food.

Whew! Back from “the wars”… I was starting to suffer from Internet Withdrawal :frowning:

I did not read the whole thread! Yays and Boos as necessary, gropes to selected female members if it’s already groping time this week  etc…

I’ll be back with it tomorrow morning (it’s 23:15 here!)

Night!

The visit went great. I’m home tired, and eating spaghetti while watching the Habs. Tomorrow is either laundry or buy new underoos day.

{{{{Kid}}}} Vent as needed. We’re here for you.

LiLi are you going to be like that one Doper a few years back who posted during and after labor?

BRRRRRRRR! I’m thinking a drink of ice water is not a smart thing when the temp in the house is mid-60s and I’m just sitting, semi-inert. Wish I had some hot chocolate now… Or cookies. *Someone * inhaled all the medicinal oatmeal cookies I made 2 days ago.

Even popcorn would work - wish we had some. <insert deep sad pathetic snackless sigh>

Yay, macaroni ‘n’ cheese party!

I’m hungry enough to eat my students’ papers.

FCM, I’ll make you some yummy cookies. What kind would you like?

After all, I have nothing better to do now because my boyfriend is a dumbass!

After the crappy day which I’ve been having I drive all the way to his house (1 hour drive) for some, uh, diversionary tactics. When I suggest such tactics, he’s too busy working. Ok, fine. I guess I can understand ::sigh:: We are both self-employed. I get it. That was ok until 15 minutes later when he came in and wanted to go out to dinner!

::grumbles and mutters and leaves the room to go make cookies::

I love mac n cheese! heaps plate

I was told by my trainer today that I am going well; one of the other station monitors told me I am catching on much more quickly that a lot of trainees she has seen. It’s just stuff to learn, and I can do that. The weird thing is that once you get there, you are there - you can’t even go out to your car. And not only will I be earning money; I’ll be saving money - no smoking (of course).

The Pasaquan art show/sale is this weekend; I hope I get rid of a lot of the jewelry I’ve made. I love making it but selling it is a bitch and I won’t have time now that I am gainfully employed.

Off for a bath!

Good luck at the Pasaquan sale, SCL – and take lots of pictures, that’s such a neat place! I wish we’d known about it when we lived in Georgia; it would have been a must-see for us.

Why oh why oh WHY did I make myself get up earlier than usual this morning? Of all the stupid days to pick to deliberately shortchange myself of sleep. …grumble grumble… They sent out a MASSIVE pile of work for me to get done by tomorrow, and I didn’t even get it till 6:00 p.m.! I just ate supper (jambalaya, yum!), watched Jeopardy! (a daily requirement), and then took a nice hot shower in a probably vain attempt to wake myself up. Wish me luck about 3:00 a.m. this morning. …grumble grumble…

And the best part? Tomorrow they’ll probably do it to me again! They said this witness is testifying for FOUR DAYS, and they want it ALL daily; they just ordered it today. I know she testified Thursday and Friday of last week; I’ve got part of Friday, and even that looks to be 180 pages. By tomorrow morning! But there’s also more congressional [de]drivel[/del] hearings tomorrow, so there’ll probably be another delivery man at my door late tomorrow afternoon. …grumble grumble…

Oh well, at least we’ve lined up an in-her-house housesitter for the Idiots for our Friday night trip to Atlantic City for my birthday (which isn’t till the 6th, but when it falls midweek, oh well). FCM, if it works out well for us, I’ll pass along her name to you if you’re interested – she’d at least be closer than your mom! She’s the office manager at our vet’s office and is vet tech certified, so she should be a good animal sucker. We’ll just have to see how our boys get along with her English bulldog!

Yes- good luck at the show!
Gahh. Just read the Oprah Pit Thread and my head is all asploded now. Cripes, the OP is a clueless git. And would probably think Clueless Git is some kind of compliment.

Ponders posting when going into early stages of labour

Sell lots of stuff, SCL!!

**MamaTigs ** - if all goes well, I shouldn’t need a critter sitter any more. When my kid moves in, I’ll have a built in keeper. But that won’t be till May, so I appreciate you thinking about me.

**Purp ** - I’m easy to please - chocolate chip is always good! Tho I did cave and have a bowl of corn chex. It was sorta sweet. Kinda.

Glad to hear the job is going well, SCL. Yay! Is there a lot to do or is there lots of waiting? You need to start up an MMP sometime and tell us something about the new job…

Speaking of which: next Monday is available! Just a hint. We don’t have any future Mondays reserved, so anyone who’s interested…please speak up. (Or else swampy will come in here and guilt you into it… )

Whap the boyfriend one upside the head from us, Purple One.

Yeah…being poor is no fun. We went through a rough patch when I was in my teens. I learned all kinds of creative cooking strategies for the end of the month when we’d be down to the change that had fallen into the couch. Drop biscuits made with powdered milk? Always handy to know how to make. And I still like box mac’n’cheese, despite having eaten more than my share of it in those days.

Glad FCD gets to go back to work on Monday. Yay! I always pick omelets when I need a breakfast that will stay with me for a long time. And mushroom and cheese is one of my faves. (Hmmm…breakfast tomorrow?)

Hang in there, Dotty! You’ll have your privacy back in no time. (And you know you’ll miss them…)

::Jumps three feet in the air due to being unexpectedly groped by a Mumper who shall remain nameless::

Where’s Roo?

I know I missed lots, but I’m tired and will once again be trying to get to bed early…

Hugs and appropriate responses to all…

GT

My mail was picked up today! I was right - our route has a sub.

My lovely Knit Picks Harmony needles arrived today. They remind me of crayons. I can’t wait to use them, but I do need to finish the other projects first.

Good luck with the show, SCL!

Lisslar–you better post when you go to the hospital!

And Mr. Lissar needs to have detailed notification instructions, of course. (He’s welcome to e-mail me, if you like…) Just tell him tinyninjachef’s worldwide network of back-up godparents need to know.

Hey GT, I just found out that one of my brothers is going to be in Columbus tomorrow thru Sunday at a Percussion convention (or something like that). He’s staying at the Hampton Inn, one that is a couple of miles from the OSU campus. He probably won’t get to see the game though.

I’m slogging it through the week … isn’t it Friday yet?! laughs My cousin was in that Diamond Crater State Park in Arkansas last week, when the guy from Wisconsin found that 3.9 carat diamond. Guess that means my cousin probably didn’t find any. I’m still waiting for a “trip report” from her.

FCM, I have a roll of sugar cookie dough in the fridge - want some of that? I should be ashamed to admit this, but I’ve already had a bite or two of it myself…we’re all out of goodies here too. Ghiradelli makes some really good brownie mixes, btw…that we’re all out of.

It’s kind of strange with Swampy on third shift - he’s not around as usual, and I miss his posts! Please put him back on the day shift!!!

All things considered, I really don’t like earthquakes, but at least they’re over with quickly. No real damage at my house, just stuff got rattled off of shelves, and some of the big stuff walked around a bit. Nothing like having one right under your feet to wake you right up!

ETA: ah, only a 5.6, but it was *right *underfoot.
