Wow. Crucifixion and a trainwreck with a pound of haughty superiority, gun-hate, and hypocricy thrown in. That’s thread value right there!
It would appear that posting while angry is the equivilent of posting while drinking. Ill-advised.
That said, it’s amazing what unfounded assumptions and baseless accuastions have been tossed around. The only information about this incident you have is from the first post. It doesn’t necessarily contain every fact extant, and contains phrases meant to be sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek, and contains one factual error not really relevant to the incident. I’d like to clarify some points before you finish nailing.
My dogs should never have been in the street. I fully accept that this is my responsibility as a pet owner. To imply that I was irresponsible in letting “stray dogs” run amok is baseless.
They are fenced in the back yard. We found a gate ajar out back, apparently left open by the landscaping crew the day before. It will be fitted with an automatic closer to prevent further such incidents. The one hit had a small chunk taken out of the top of his head, but required no stitches. We don’t want a repeat, obviously.
SUV slowed slightly, turned towards the dog, hit/tumbled the dog under the truck, stopped for 1 second, and took off. All of this occured as I stood in my office looking out the window. By the time I made it to the street, she was already 2 houses away.
She did this in front of my neighbor, 20 feet from her, talking to a friend in a car parked across the street. He yelled at her to stop, with obvious efffect.
I never entered the property of the woman. I stopped at the end of her driveway, asked 2 questions, and left, telling the police on my cell phone the location of the driver. Dashcam confirmed this later, after their allegations of threats.
I did not simply leave my kid’s pet in the road to chase this person. 5 people from my house, plus neighbors leaped into action to get the dogs to safety while I grabbed car keys and phone.
LAN was simply a descriptor meant to show that a third un-involved, angry, and frankly scary party was approaching my car with some yard implement in hand, arguing that the woman did nothing wrong.
Had it been a 10 year old boy, it would not have become a scary situation.
A side street off a side street does lead to other roads, but they’re rarely used by anyone, and the man at the mailbox I spoke with confirmed no one had come by there,
so in practice, we’re dealing with a dead end with no one else in an SUV in motion and coming to a stop within the proper timeframe.
Guns? Who the hell said anything about guns? Just because a gun owner gets angry, that doesn’t mean they automatically shoot the problem. That’s just absurd, childish, and irresponsible to suggest. Previous comments re: pests, cats and such? It’s called humor. A joke. People joke about things that they don’t actually do. They don’t do them.
If I see something wrong, I deal with it. Shoplifing, purse-snatching, thieves unloading my neighbor’s work truck at 2AM - I don’t **just **dial 911, because that solves nothing at the time. I will confront who I can and stop what wrongs I can, because that is what society requires of me. It’s been said that All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
You can ignore evil, crime, or whatever you like. I won’t.
People other than the POTUS and Bill Gates have security systems on their home.
We have nice things, we want to keep them. I have a wife and children who are sometimes home alone. I want them protected. This is normal and common.
I’m tired of refuting every stupid accusation that someone pulled out of their ass.
You don’t know me, and know very little about me. You may infer what you like, but without facts, it’s pointless. It’s just grandstanding and piling on for the sake of entertaining others, and I can’t think of anything more childish and immature.
I honestly expect better from such an intelligent group of people.
Epilogue: Woman admitted hitting the dog. She left because she saw the neighbor standing there and didn’t want to be identified. She said she never saw me.
Boyfriend was charged with false statements and terroristic threats per the cops, not me.
For those of you who imply it’s the Acme of irresponsibility and proof of mental defect to want to stop or identify a person in these or similar circumstances, I say this:
When you watch someone aim a car at your child’s pet, roll over it, and drive away, please take a picture of yourself eating Cheetos and watching TV with your feet up so I know how much better a person you are than me.
Did you mean that you were going to use your powers of reason to show him how to make better life decisions such that he would never make a poor decision again? That is very magnanimous of you. I am not sure I would have had the wherewithal for such a thing when feeling as heated and angry as you seemed to be.
ducati is the one who apparently suggested it, so take it up with him. He said very clearly that he has no idea why anyone brought up the topic of guns, so he obviously couldn’t have meant he would shoot the guy.
I live for OPs that don’t give the real information until post #201. I think we should lobby all writers to not tell us the plot of a book until the 26th chapter of a book, too. Not believable that way, you say? Pshaw amateurs!
This is all good news. She admitted that to the cops? Even better about the guy being charged. And if all that is true, then you’ve justified your disparaging remarks towards them. A happy ending through and through. Good guys 1 Bad guys 0.
Based on the information he has given, a person who was the companion of someone who ran over his dog and took off, approached his car yelling and carrying a yard implement, falsely accused the OP of making threats and using racial slurs (when he did neither), and was later charged with making terrorist threats and making false statements.
I’m having trouble seeing how the OP is the “bad guy” here. Because he referred to this ‘gentleman’ as a negro? I think that’s pretty understandable given the situation, although I guess it’s fair to criticize him for doing so. But it seems to me that is an extremely minor thing given what apparently happened.
And yes, I’m merely basing it on what he has said happened. None of us know what actually happened. But if what he said is true, then, in the grand scheme of things, he is the good guy. And the “negro” thing is an unfortunate, but quite understandable, thing he said in anger.
If I had the energy I would srart a poll.
Has anyone actually known someone who ran a dog over on purpose? On a residential street?
Bonus: in front of a deranged, well armed ex-cops house.
Just curious.
You have previously boasted about pointing out directions with a handgun because cops and robbers, or some such: when you start frothing with rage and posting about ending your life in some dramatic fashion and saying you would be posting from jail if the dog had been killed, don’t expect people to laugh it off as “Oh, that ducati is such a card”. And train your damn dogs.
Extra credit, too, if you can now have the denouement flip to your side. They confessed! The police got 'em! I’m vindicated because they were bad, evil, wrong, bad and evil!
