Yes. People have been responding to what was posted - slowed down, stopped, screaming at her …
Yes. All the people who have told the ducati he reacted very, very badly are probably allowed to own guns. Well, the US citizen who do not have a documented history of running screaming after people who did not hit their dogs.
I didn’t say anyone entered anyone else’s home - the poster I quoted offered a hypothetical situation regarding a course of action in which the person the OP referred to as ‘LAN’ did, in fact, enter the home.
As far as being arrested, I was operating under the assumption that this man was later arrested, as the OP mentions that he was charged with making terroristic threats. I don’t know where the OP lives, but that charge is often a felony in my jurisdiction.
:smack: you are correct. I believed the OP had made a distinction between the woman hitting the dog and the man acting aggressive on his porch, but reading again, I see that is not the case.
I agree that the OP is a scary dude. Home security systems with cameras are NOT particularly common…I used to install internet/TV/phones for AT&T, and, out of several thousand homes I worked in, 2 had such a camera system. And guess what? 1 of those two people was pretty goddamn scary. She talked about shooting people who drove down her street in a very offhand manner. Nice lady, very pleasant and easy to deal with…but scary as fuck.
OTOH, though, the LAN and his white hobag showed their true trashy colors, and, sadly, (and a little hilariously) did nothing but conform to terrible stereotypes about low-class members of both races. They’re the opposite of “credits to their race”.
Yes, you’ve already explained that you think “nigger” and “faggot” are fine words with which to express anger as well. And the non-bigots in this thread have explained that you’re wrong.
There’s really nothing more to be said here. Ultimately, it is just a matter of opinion. The civilized members of American society have collectively come the opinion that such terms are not acceptable, and the bigots have said they don’t care. You side with the bigots. We’ll make a note.
Well, compared to your habit of referring to people as niggers, spics, faggots, etc. then referring to a black man as a “Large Angry Negro” does seem pretty tame, so I can see why you’d rush to defend it. But if the OP wanted others to believe he’d been falsely accused of using racist insults, it was pretty stupid to describe his accuser here using a racial term that suggests his opinions about African-Americans are at best outdated. I have no difficulty believing that in real life, and particularly when angry, ducati might use a different word that starts with the letter “N”.
He’s a white cop in Atlanta. So, yeah, I’d bet on it. ROFL And I can sort of understand why. When someone of a particular race tries to kill you, or attacks you, or resists arrest in a really violent way, sometimes angry words just slip out…and cops do get attacked by (and have to forcibly restrain) men of all races from time to time, it’s just part of the job. It’s deplorable, but…
But in all reality, I myself have used the N-word in anger a few times, and I don’t consider myself a racist. When a Hindu friend of mine was finishing his doctorate in EE at a local HBCU, his advisor tried to extort co-writing credit on his thesis, for the purpose of making money off of the patent. This would have been highly illegal, because my friend had signed an intellectual property agreement with a *different * university, whose unique equipment he had to use to actually do his experiments for his thesis. This particular HBCU “winked” at this advisor’s behavior, until they got threatened with being reported to their accrediting association.
And yes, I used the N-word in response to this debacle. Why? Because now my Hindu friend, who had never even MET a black person before starting at this HBCU, now has a horrible opinion of black people. And how am I supposed to counter his opinion? His advisor tried to get him to commit a crime in order to get his doctorate.
So … calling people “nigger” helps prevent skin-color-based prejudice. It makes perfect sense now.
(And just to be clear, Indians in India are perfectly familiar with both the word and with the concept of racial prejudice. Anti-black prejudice is not uncommon in India, and it’s something that Indians are quite familiar with through mass media. It’s nothing that Indians really have to be taught while attending an … um … HBCU.
Oh, I didn’t use it in front of HIM. I wouldn’t want to encourage those assumptions he was making.
Unfortunately, while many Hindus are wonderful people, they aren’t known for racial or religious tolerance. My friend has bad things to say about the Muslims and the Chinese as well, although he’s very complimentary of the Japanese.
He can’t help it, though. He comes from a monocultural, monoracial environment in northern India. His attitude toward certain races/religions is just a product of this fact.
He would have made more of an effort NOT to attend an HBCU if those assumptions were already that deep-seated. IMO. And I’m still unconvinced that he would have been exposed to those assumptions through mass media. He didn’t speak English AT ALL when he came to the states.
IIRC, the OP didn’t feel the need to identify the race of anyone else in the story. Not the neighbor, not the driver, not his own. Only the “LAN.” That he didn’t feel that “large angry man” would have been sufficient to get his point across speaks volumes.
Yes, the term is ridiculous and plays to stereotypes. Sadly, the LAN in question appears to not be worried about whether or not he’s conforming to stereotypes.
I don’t understand. This Hindu friend’s situation made it necessary for you to use a racial slur in order to prevent his applying a broad brush to a racial group, but you didn’t use it in front of him.
Unless he’s from a very isolated village, I would be surprised if his life experience is 100 percent monocultural. In any case, he can help it. Like many Indians, he just chooses not to.
Yep, IYO. Indians going abroad end up at all kinds of institutions, ones that they might not have preferred given their own choice. I know Indians at historically black institutions who went in harboring racial prejudice.
You don’t need to speak English to be exposed to or influenced by mass media in India. You don’t even necessarily need to understand much English.
Dude you are an idiot… I say this not because I’m a Large Negro… I say this not because I’m currently in love with a pretty white lady… I say this not because you even have the charges wrong…
I say this because you’re a cop… not a former cop… their are no former cops… Once a cop… always a cop… even if you were a shitty one… Your actions…are deplorable simply because they go against every grain of training you got… that I got… that we were all suppose to get. You reacted like the people in the two stories I posted… they … enraged by emotions… reacted foolishly… and paid the price…
You should be ashamed two fold… I careless about the LAN or White trash implications… The one fact that I begin upon with my kids… boy and the girl is this… You will not react blindly with emotion… you need to keep you head… figure out what’s around you… and make sound decisions… not the decisions you WANT to make. Dude… you really take the L in this… Im not sure if you’re posting as a … “Look what a idiot thing I did”… or “World’s coming to an end”… but regardless… hug your daughter and try to set a better example.
in the words of the late Sgt Phil Esterhaus…“Let’s be careful out there!!”
I actually used that word in a discussion with my wife about the situation, not that you have any right to know that. And I said it in anger, again, not that you have any right to know that.
Who the fuck are you, anyway? Why am I bothering to defend my behavior to some random internet crank?
I am getting the feeling that you’ve never been attacked by someone who intended you serious harm. This does happen to cops on a semi-regular basis, and it does tend to change your perspective.
And it’s ridiculous to act like my friend is the bad guy in the situation.
