I may actually go insane with anger

Huh? I’m confused by this response. the point is that if someone is an ass, and you feel you must insult them, keep it based on their personality or actions, not external stuff like race or religion.

And we write G-d not as a curse word, but out of respect (or in my case, habit). Jewish scripture dictates that it is disrespectful to write the name of G-d. In fact any paper with G-d’s name (in Hebrew) cannot be thrown out, but gets buried.

If you think it’s done like a curse word, that’s on you, not us.

Dear Jews,

You’re not fooling anyone. Like I’m not gonna know how to fill in the blank? Please.

Cut that sh-t out and write it the normal way.

Warmest Regards,
God

Dear G-d,

I’ll need to get five Rabbinical authorities and the synagogue president to agree before considering your request.

Might be awhile.

Have a bagel and a schmear while you wait.

The Jews.

:j

Has anyone actually gone insane with anger? Could you go to an asylum and ask a dude wearing a straitjacket how he wound up there and his answer would be, “Got really pissed off.”?

It’s a joke. Polite behaviour is sometimes referred to as “Christian”, like Christian charity and stuff.

The sacred and the profane often have similar prohibitions, I’m not sure why they amuse me. Like pork and cannibalism.

It’s white of you to explain this to the heathens.

I’m guessing that the case of the insane gone angry occurs much more frequently.

I know what Christian means in that sense (as patronizing a phrase as it is). I could not get why you were saying it to me.

Not when the audience is comprised mostly of pacifist pricks who live for the opportunity to sit smugly behind their computer screens criticizing people they don’t know for things they don’t understand.

But an instictive reaction for a well-trained police officer. Comparing yourself to the OP for this purpose suggests what?

Very well may be entirely appropriate priorities for someone living in that neighborhood. How would you know - another invalid comparison?

The Lord of hindsight has spoken. Wish I could always step back momentarily and assess every undetected, violent or frightening experience I encounter in a completely detached, objectively correct manner. Oh what a pefect world it would be if we all could do that!?

Exactly. No excuse for hitting anything under any circumstances, ever.

You should be thanking him for doing that so you don’t have to.

Because speculating on a wishful interpretation justifying their resentment for authority and direct confrontation and violence of any kind whether or not it may be truly called for or appropriate is so much more interesting to them personally and steers the discussion way from the facts.

Common fear/flight reaction from a person who knows they have done something wrong. Apparently she never saw the OP at that time either, but anyway…

Facts(3): You weren’t there. OP’s characterization takes precedence. You are clueless.

Of course that is the objective of this “game” here in the cyberworld. It’s not just for pimply-faced kids with a passion for vicarious violence anymore! Grown-ups can it do it on SDMB now too!!

Speculating one way or the other certainly would lead to a more “preferred” conclusion.

Yeah well, shit happens. It usually leads to more shit. Who started the shit and who is the really shitty person, after all?

Maybe this, maybe that, what if, yada yada - what a bunch of bullshit. Contrary to popuular belief, most caucasians are rightfully fearful of large(r) negroes of either sex who behave aggressively towards them. And it degrades into a debate about racial predjudice views. Wow.

As far as the OP is concerned, get a DVR and ditch the VHS crap. Swann make some nice consumer grade security cams and DVRs. There’s a couple others out there. Funny thing is, people who are out of control enough to do this type of stupid stuff (both the OP and the LAN) never recognize the increasing probablity their actions may be recorded anywhere even on private property. Makes things easier after they are, that’s for sure.

I do agree on the anger issue tho and toning it down would have avoided some of the nastier portions of this little episode.

Rightfully fearful of negroes?

Is this a zombie thread from the 50s?

You fail at sarcasm, because yeah, actually, if folk had some self-control, it would be a better world. If you’re as out of control as the OP is, you’re part of the problem. (Note that I’m working in the middle you tried to exclude).

Maybe “more” fearful? Than say a similarly-sized person of lighter skin tone?

Yeah - because of all the racial bullshit.

Yeah, it is racist bullshit. People actually think this is normal?

Random big black guy just scares me cause he’s black? Really?

And if he does, it’s anyone else fault but my own racism left unchecked? It’s justifiable, or worse, the black guys fault?

Which problem - reckless driving or anger management? Or was it a racial issue, I forgot.

Read fool: “acting aggressively.” Or did you leave that part out on purpose to support your irrelevant pet race theory?

I did read. The aggressive part is what is scary. The big part can add to it. If him being black ups the fear factor, that’s my bigotry at work.

Everyone in this thread probably recognizes that. Using the bigotry to steer the discussion away from the subject at hand has been limited to a few who view that issue shall we say “a little differently.”

Seriously kwimby that was the most bullshit racist comment I’ve ever heard pretending to be non racist.

White people are rightfully more fearful of black people?? And you believe that statements like this prove you’re NOT racist.

I guess on the plus side it makes the idiocy easier to pick out of a crowd.

I’ve taught Anger Management for over 5 yrs. It took me awhile to appreciate how many of the people in my classes had major struggles with anxiety, and how that translated to anger problems.
They aren’t doing it so ‘we don’t have to’, it doesn’t serve us well at all. Nor them, for that matter.

No kidding. As soon as the Left Hand of Dorkness bottles his secret for how to rationalize emotions we can all just go down to the corner drugstore and buy our perfect world for the going price.
