I messed the computer up

I was checking my yahoo mail and pressed something and now the top scroll bar is gone, only if I put the mouse up at the top does it show back up and the page is a lot longer.

The bottom line is gone also where I shut it off from is not showing. It shows if I press the four blocked icon next to the lower alt key

F11

Oh my god. Thank you! Tell me what that means. And again, thank you!

Wow, just tried that…then made a mental not not to bump the F11 key or I’ll be starting the same thread.

The eleventh function key–top of keyboard, above backspace. You probably bumped it. Funny, I usually get a dialog telling me I’ve done it.

F11 on most if not all web browsers switches to and from “full screen mode” where the page takes up the entire screen and the browser controls are hidden.

F11 toggles your full screen view off and on.

At least in Chrome there will be a message about how to go back. And Firefox will just make the stuff on top auto hide, so you can get it back by moving the mouse to the top of the screen.

Not meaning to be an ass here at all, just thought you may like to know that the “four blocked key” is the Windows key. That’s the Windows logo on there.

It’s also dead handy, if you like using shortcuts. Win+D minimizes everything and brings you straight to the desktop, for instance. Doing it again takes you right back to what you were doing. Win+R opens up a Run window and Win+Pause|Break (“F15”) opens up the My Computer Properties. Great if you need to do techie things quickly.

There are a lot more Windows Key shortcuts than that.

Win+E Explorer window
Win+F Search
Win+L lock
Win+M Minimize All
Win+Shift+M Undo Minimize All
Win+U Narrator Magnifier and On screen Keyboard
Win+F1 Windows Help
Win+tab Cycle through tabs

(There’s also Win+B Focus on system tray, but it’s pretty pointless).
