I might have a job---in China!

After two years and some months of being unemployed, I have a chance to do some consulting for a company in China. I’m almost afraid to mention it for fear of hexing it somehow. I’ve got a couple of hoops to jump through yet, but I’m cautiously optimistic. Please, beam some good thoughts my way—I want this job.

Sending good thoughts your way LouisB.

Good luck to 'ya. Would you happen to know which city in China at this stage?

Best wishes to you, LouisB!

The very best of luck to you, LouisB.

good luck. I personally would recommend China as the most liveable of the more international cities in China. Hope it works out for ya.

I’m sure the first “China” is supposed to be Shanghai. I have never worked in China, but had a lot of business trips and social visits there. It’s a fascinating country. Good luck.

Break a leg!

Good luck - I envy you. I love China (and I hate it too. You know the sort of thing). Incredible place. Recommended reading (ignore crappy name, it’s a good book).

Thanks for the good wishes, as well as the links. I don’t know exactly where the company in question is located as yet. I have a “final” interview scheduled for the last week in August–until then, I will just bite my fingernails and worry.

Dang, I meant Shanghai. anyhoo, there are a lot of places in China that are a pit, but if you’re a “student of China” so to speak you’ll probably find anywhere interesting for 2 years. There are also some really cool places but usually with no jobs outside of education. Let us know how it goes and whether you will be coming to the Middle Kingdom…
