I usually watch Survivor and tape “Friends” to watch afterwards. But last night I forgot to set my VCR.
Would anyone be kind enough to fill me in on what happened?
It starts out with Monica and Chandler returning from their honeymoon talking about this great couple they met on the airplane. M&C thought they hit it off with this couple and are happy to have a “couple” to hang out with.
The phone number the couple gave them, though, turns out to be a local deli.
The main plot, though, is that Ross and Rachel argue about who seduced whom. Turns out Ross has a video tape of the entire thing. After much cajoling, the Friends get Ross to show them the tape with Rachel’s permission.
Jumped back about a few weeks to the day Ross and Rachel did the deed. Ross is complaining to Joey about not having sex for 6 months. Joey tells Ross of a story that will make women want to sleep with you. Ross goes on a date and tries the story out. In typical Ross fashion, it bombs. (Hey, he’s no Joey…)
Feeling dejected, Ross returns to Joey to tell of the failure. Joey gives Ross his video camera in order to practice the story so he can see what he is doing wrong.
Joey leaves, Ross turns on the camera and begins. Enter Rachel. She has to stuff the invitation envelopes for M&C’s wedding. Ross, forgetting the camera is on, begins to help Rachel. They talk. They drink wine. Rachel begins with the exact same “sure-thing story”.
End the Friends watching the tape and it is pointed out that Joey originated the story and Rachel seduced Ross.
That is what I remember from off the top of my head. Pretty much sums it up, though.
Thanks, Bean Counter!
This was a really good episode. They perfectly built up the story so that when Rachel starts telling it to Ross you just fall over with shock, or I did.
Bean missed the last tidbit. Chandler and Monica go through the phone book and find the couple they met on the plane and try and set up a “date.” But everydate the C&M throw out the other couple is busy. So finally Monica tells them off but then Brad? and Jennie, the couple, offer up a date of Jan 15, and C&M jump at it and are very happy.
Oh yes, Joey and Phoebe were quite pissed about not only not getting any presents from the trip but also because C&M were so excited to go hang out with that other couple and not them.
Oh yeah, Ross and Rachel decide to watch the sex scenes from the tape too, having only wathed the build up with the other 4 to see who came onto who (or whom as Joey oddly corrected Ross) At first they seem quite pleased, Rachel had a nice tan Ross said, Ross looked like he had worked out Rachel said. She had gone to the beach and he has been. But then ooh, oh no! Turn it off quick!
M & C have become deplorable, unwatchable characters. Joey is the only character that made me laugh consistently. Ross has been less pathetic lately. Three episodes in a row he has come out on top. Still needs a haircut.
Seinfeld reference?
The strike episode? Good call.
Yeah, I was rather glad about Ross’s coming out on top. Rachel was so snooty about the tape and Ross’s supposed desperation that it was pretty funny when she started telling the story.
That poor screwed up fetus. Not only does it know the date of its conception, it’s got it on tape. I forsee a therapist’s couch twenty years down the line (what, you don’t think Courtney Cox and Jennifer Anniston’s looks will hold up for another couple of decades of seasons?)

That’s giving me bad visions of a Mad About You episode where the kid is older and they’ve screwed her up so badly that she needs a shrink, and I mean BAD.
Monica and Chandler unwatchable? Fie on you!! I still love watching them. They’re both lovably neurotic, but now they’re neurotic together

Bah! A pox on your house (not a good curse given the current events, but it is the only old english type retort I know).
I should correct myself though. He is ok. SHE is unwatchable. I see no reason he’d love her. She is SO unlikeable. She didn’t used to be that way. They did the same thing with Ross. Took his worst feature and made it cartoonish. I know Chandler is neurotic, but she is borderline PSYCHOTIC.
