I’m not normally a nosy ned, but WTF was Uncle Beer’s closed thread about?
“Threadspotting” is a SD front page link that features a thread. UncleBeer was trying to drum up interest (in 2000) in submitting worthy threads for front page linking. Someone posted to it, after 9 years of inactivity, and it was closed as a zombie thread.
Nothing controversial at all.
Oh crap, I didn’t notice the date and I failed to twig on Marley’s hint with the broom. I thought I was missing out on some SDMB drama. Rats.
Marley used the mod “Boomstick”, not “Broomstick.” I’ve never actually seen it, but I assume it’s similar to a 1920s death ray.
I believe it’s got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger.
YA GOT THAT?!?
I believe the boomstick is a twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart’s top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That’s right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It’s got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That’s right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart
DAMN! Bewha beat me to it!
Nerds, nerds, nerds as far as the eye can see… although I guess I shouldn’t talk.
UncleBeer was announcing or asking for submissions for ThreadSpotting, like JSexton said. If you see a thread that’s so interesting or odd you want to tell your friends and family and coworkers, send an email or private message to TubaDiva. For that matter you could also report the thread and tell the forum mods about it. I’ve submitted a couple of them lately - topics like Werewolves in Space and Vulcan Insults jumped out at me.
That’s right, that sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan!
Pssst…you’re late…
I’m going to resurrect this thread in 8-years and create a sort of meta-zombie.
That’s bad, but you’ll feel…good.
Pfft. That was buried in the middle of like, five whole sentences! Who has time to penetrate through that kind of dense wall of text?!
