Woohoo!
I read this thread last night and had to tune in first thing this morning to see how the little guy was doing–I’m so happy it’s good news!

Add another vote for naming him Bounce.

Yay super kitty!
So is it still too early to start in on the jokes?
trumpet fanfare!
Good thing kittens are mostly cartilage
I can see this story becoming family history – “Hey Gramma, tell us about the time you put the cat in the dryer!”
Best wishes to Bounce as he continues his recovery.
Hurray! Wizzo! and other such silly exclamations. Glad to hear he’s doing OK. I’ve been putting off posting this piece of advice to the thread until now – don’t just check the machine for kitties don’t switch it on 'til you are sure you know where they are. I was very very paranoid when mine were small…
Y’know, it’s strange, because I tend to do that automatic-head-count thing all the time, both of kids and pets.
Even stranger, because I checked the darn clothes and didn’t feel the little fella in there. I even stood there for a couple seconds while the dryer ran, contemplating whether I should just set it for an hour so I could finish washing another load of clothes.
I didn’t hear a thing to alert me, maybe because the dryer was just getting wound up, and he’s so tiny. (Later, I most definitely heard the thumping; that, and Dr. Phil’s show about an animal-crazy wife, was what set off the alarm bells in my head.)
Thank God I didn’t just set it for an hour and leave it. I would’ve been a total mess, instead of the 3/4 mess I was.
Now we’re obsessively counting the cats every time I dry clothes. And last night when we couldn’t find our basset hound for a few minutes, I had to fight the urge to check the dryer just in case.
Hoo-rah! That’s the best news I could get today. I was banking on the resiliency of little kittums to pull him through. What a relief!
Continued good wishes to you both. And yes, this mandates pictures.
So glad little Bounce is OK. My little furballs send their good wishes too.
YAY! Good for him. Sniff his belly for me when he gets home, will ya? (I love the smell of kitten fur!)
Especially when it’s April Fresh.
So glad to hear he’s okay, and that you are, too! Don’t feel bad about not finding him … just today I was home on lunch break and suddenly felt something warm and furry under the blanket with me. Kind of freaked out until I realized it was our cat Buggy. They’re sneaky little buggers, those kitties! He sends his well wishes too, by the way (as does his big brother, Poopy, and even our dog, Weezer).
Yayyy! So glad to hear your great news bodypoet! Oh yeah! Sweet kitty! I’'m smiling!

Yellowval:
I am hoping that whatever conditions caused you to name your kitties “Poopy” and “Buggy” were cleared up quickly and easily by your vet…
I was thinking of the roll call for dinner: “Here Buggy, Poopy, Weezer! Time for din-din!”
I’m very glad to hear little bounce appears to be on the mend. I’ve fortunately never done that accidentally but once decided to give Murhphy, my feral kitten from the Biosphere 2 property, two turns so she’d get the message that wasn’t a good place to snooze. She was an adult cat when I did that and the dryer was full of clean towels so I thought there was little risk. Our current cat, dusty, is prefers to lounge on our bed and dangerous parts of the house haven’t appealed to her as much.
i’m so glad to hear that bounce is bouncing back! i hope he has a quick and full recovery.
bodypoet, I missed your initial post so as I was reading this thread with bated breath hoping for good news. I’m anxious to hear how Bounce feels when he gets home with the rest of the family. He sure is a tough little kitty!
Just checked in again. Bounce is eating, which is pretty impressive considering he was just beginning to drink milk when he got tumbled. He’s still wobbly but should be able to come home tomorrow, as long as we keep him quiet.
She suggested keeping him in the utility room. I’m thinking the back bedroom would be a better choice…
I can envision what the next few years is going to be like: Every time I settle down to a nice lunch, he’ll give me that look that says, “Remember when you nearly killed me? Can I have some tuna fish salad, too?”
Thanks again for all the good wishes. I’ll post some pics, if I can ever get my darn memory card reader to work.
Awesome news, bodypoet.
Sleep tight!
Heh. He’s going to weigh fifty pounds inside of two years.
I’m so glad this had a happy ending, and Bounce is the best name for a cat ever.
