Now that I’ve got this static IP and Microsoft’s Personal Web Server running at home, I need to get a domain name. It needs to be something cute yet refined, memorable and descriptive. I’ve already thought of (and this is gonna’ get translated, but not go anywhere) www.everybodylovesross.com . Does anyone else have any ideas? If you come up with the winning entry, you get a free e-mail account for as long as I’m up and I won’t even read your e-mail (much). Actually, anybody with any submissions at all gets a free e-mail account. Am I generous or what? Please make sure the domain names are available before suggesting them and/or include the whole thing so I can check it easily by simply clicking on it.
www.niceguy.com www.fungi.com <–mushroom joke www.amigoodorwhat.com www.handyguy.com www.inteligentattractivesingleguy.com <–too long www.iloveketchup.com www.twofistsofbeer.com
You get the idea.
Look what I’ve done now, niceguy is taken fungi is taken handyguy is taken and (I really can’t believe it) iloveketchup is a porn site. I honestly had no idea.
Ok how about www.intertiasdomain.com ?
It isn’t taken, nor is www.beerisreallydamngood.com
What did you expect? Genius before my first Old Style?
Is there a specific point to this web site?
I don’t mean to sound mean; what I’m asking is, is this web site just all about you for anything that pops into your head, or is is about specific subjects of interest?
Are all variations of your name (first, last, first + last, initial + last) taken?
I can probably come up with good suggestions, but I know next to nothing about you as a person or the web site you’re building.

Based on your user ID, how about icantstop.com?
The Stanley Cup: A repeat is in the STARS!
Don’t forget about .net and .org, either.

cmkeller: Specific point? What’s that? No, not as of yet, but I’m willing to take suggestions. Right now it’s really just a trainer for doing bigger and better things.
I hope to eventually run a specific service I have in mind, but haven’t quite gotten the skills necessary to implement. At that time, I’ll choose a more appropriate domain name. Right now I just want something that sounds cool to have an e-mail address @.
iloveketchup.cc is available, too.
And check at www.spot.cc for .cc domains

How about imtheintertiagodgo.com?
Alright, I admit my creativity is pretty low this afternoon…
is “www.I_just_want_something_that_sounds_cool.org” taken?
how about “www.zero_kelvin.net”? That definitely sounds cool to me.
Flymaster, aren’t .cc domain names more expensive? I thought they cost more.
Well, sure, but what’s $15/year among friends?
Regular domains usually range between ~$15 and $35 /year, while .cc is $50. But if you’re set on a specific name, it might be worth it.

Don’t you have to be an organization to qualify for the .org? Then there’s also all of the country specific .'s like .usa .
Flymaster: I don’t really love ketchup all that much (opposed to popular opinion.)
If you’re counting on a .com, you’re gonna be shocked at what little remains. You basically have to go to a registrar and free-form everything that comes out of the cranium, curse occasionally, then of the 3 lousy ones that are acutally availabe, pick the least un-desirable.
Sorry for the harshness, but I’ve been going through this a couple of times recently.
Of course, if you’re content with a .to or .tv, or a www.i-have-the-coolest-domain-name-in-the-world-37.com, you’re in good shape.
www.DamnCool.com is available. What do you guys/gals think about that?
Nope…anyone can get .org
And I’m not sure if restrictions have been loosened, but I know internic never really liked profanity in the names, so damncool.com might not go through.
But personally, I like it a lot.

I know there’s a porn site out there named teenpussy.com. You can’t tell me that’s not profanity and don’t ask me how I know that either.
Well, I’m giving you what I wouldn’t mind taking as a domain name if I ever get the itch to do so:
www.spacecabby.com
It’s definitely unclaimed. Space Cabby was the star of a series of stories in 1950’s Mystery in Space comics, and the stories have a kitsch-y appeal. (I should know, I have a Space Cabby web site, although, as you can see, it’s very much a work still in progress.)
So I’m giving you the chance to be the Space Cabby! Take people for a ride, and maybe they’ll give you some tips!

You were browsing for sites on elderly cats, right inertia?
Actually, I think the rules on profanity have been relaxed since registrations were opened up to other companies. Damncool.com is pretty damn cool, if you ask me.
