My friends and I are planning on getting matching silver rings with our initials on the inside and a nice quote on the outside. As we will probably be attending colleges far away from one another, we’re trying to think of a sweet quote about friendship with bonus points if it has references to the distance that will soon be between us. Any ideas?
How about the line from E.T.?
“I’ll be right here.” Maybe add an engraving of a heart.
How about “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them”?
Try this page Lotsa quotes.
Though, being a dork, I’d have to go with everybody else.
“Friends forever, and if we should part, it will be in distance, but never in heart.”
“True friends grow seperately without growing apart.”
I harbour a secret wish to have the following quotation inscribed in my wedding ring:
Ami + amo = amiamo.
It’s an Italian pun, meaning “You love + I love = we love.”
“Friendships come and go, but a good ring lasts forever.”
-FabioClone
“Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.”
-Woodrow Wilson
“Friendship is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.”
-Aristotle
“The last thing you see before you die.”
-That horror movie
It might be thought sappy, or childish, but I’ve always liked this bit from Winnie the Pooh:
That last bit, “I just wanted to be sure of you” is what I’d suggest for a ring inscription.
But there’s gonna be, you know, two rings.
Shakespeare, sonnet 109 (I think; this is from drunken memory):
O, never say that I was false of heart,
Though absence seem’d my flame to qualify.
Thanks for the great ideas!
I only looked into this thread to see how many posts it took before someone posted one or both of these.
