I need help in finding an old news article about sportsmanship (Please?)

I’m searching for an article (or column), but derned if I can actually find it. I read it a few years ago; it was about the difference between Chicago Blackhawks fans and Detroit Red Wings fans. I’m trying to find a link to it to show it to a friend of mine, but I can’t locate it.

Here’s what I can remember about it:

– It was probably written between 1996 - 1998

– It appeared in the Detroit News or Detroit Free Press (it could have been a weekend edition, where the two combine); but I’m not positive it was a News/Freep writer, since it could have been a syndicated thing

– It wasn’t a straight out humourous article; it honestly went into detail about the difference between going to a game in Chicago with a Wings jersey and going to a game in Detroit with a Hawks jersey.

– The main (keywords, I guess) that I remember was points like: a Detroit fan in Chicago would have beer thrown at him and his jersey, and Detroit fans generally had more respect for out of town fans.

Now, I’m not really looking for people posting … dissenting opinions ;), but I’d really LOVE whoever could find this for me.

Please?

Maybe this will help you.

Thanks. I tried searching just with Chicago Blackhawks+Detroit Red Wings, but all it pulled up were game accounts and the like. Plus, even if I did find the right one, I can’t pay for the article (and before anyone tries to chide me, I’m being honest when I say I can’t afford two bucks).

The more I think of it, it’s probably from a columnist, not a sports reporter. But either I’m searching incorrectly, or it’s disappeared.

(And NO, I didn’t make it up in my mind! :p)
