I need Simpsons trivia answers.

7-11 is having the Simpsons Global Fanfest trivia game, it consists of lottery type scratch off cards. I stopped in for gas this morning and asked the guy about it and he gave me a stack of cards. I was able to answer almost all of them but two I am not sure enough of and I dont want to risk loosing the grand prize, a trip to LA for the global fanfest. I already mucked one of them up. But I have also won a Slurpee, a cafe’/frut cooler, two Big Gulps and three Bakery Stix. The one I mucked up was, “What was maggies first word? Homer, Daddy or Mommy” I swear it was Homer but they say it was Daddy. OK so there right, I was thinking of the episode where the baby Lisa was running around saying, “Homer”.

OK back to the trivia,

  1. What is Marge’s name short for? A. Margaret B. Margot C. Marjorie

  2. In the weekly opening sequence how many times does the uranium rod bounce before it lands in Homer’s collar?
    A. Once B. Twice C. Thrice
I think the second one is B but I’m not sure. I knew I could count on the fellow SD simpsons maniacs. Thanks!

Marge is Margorie (Maggie is Margaret) and
the tube bounces once I think.

Annie-Xmas: i concur.

Whammo: it was indeed “Daddy”. Bart and Lisa both refused to call him daddy; they opted for ‘Homer’ instead. Maggie said “Daddy”, which was a sweet touch. and it was liz taylor behind the pantyhose.

Woo hoo! Marjore is correct, thank you very much! I just won 2 free coffees (had 2 tickets, same question) I should share with you.

I will wait for a definate on the other one.

I am pretty sure it’s 2 bounces. Why don’t you just wait until you watch a Simpsons to figure it out for sure? I have a bunch on tape and will check it out tonight.

the Uranium Rod bounces once when it lands in his collar, (twice when he throws it away before Bart picks it up)

Marge is short for marjorie.

Maggie’s first word was daddy, but he didnt hear it. (Joan Collins did the voice)

John’s right.

Ahhh thank you John, that stirred my memory and I realized you were right. It is once. I won another Bakery Stick.

Kind of a let down… I never win the good stuff.

JOAN COLLINS? NOOOO?!?! Elizabeth Taylor.

If you wanna get nit-pickey about it, Maggie’s first word was “Bart”. She belched it to Homer when he was trying to remember what he had to do (pick up Bart from soccer practice.)

JohnLarrigan, are you sure that Bart picks up the rod after Homer tosses it? I always thought it went down the sewer drain.

I’m with Lissa on this. Bart never picks it up. It does, indeed, fall down the sewer.

I love the Simpsons. Here in Baltimore, we can watch it 3 times a day, all in a row! (Wheeee!) I knew both answers above, but something I have always wondered is this: Watch the opening credits. After Bart swerves past the Uranium Rod, he skates down a sidewalk, weaving around Springfieldians- Bleeding Gums Murphy, Chief Wiggum, etc. He also skates past Apu Nahasapemapedalon. ( YOU spell it! ) Apu is walking a small dog. I never saw this dog again. Am I forgetting an episode with the dog?

Did anyone else notice that they changed the opening way way back? I remember in the early days, instead of having Bart skate through all the minor characters, he grabbed either a bus stop sign or a stop sign and skated off with it. I distinctly remember a shock the first time I saw the new version, though I can see why they changed it. Anyone else remember that?

Bumping this up because I want to know if there was ever a different opening too…

Yes, there used to be different opening, and Maggie’s first word was “Daddy” not “Bart” as MOUTHBREAKER would have you believe. She said “DADDY” a good 2 or 3 seasons before she said “Bart”.

But why in the fuck would anyone try to win one of those nasty-ass bakery stix?!

He’s not trying to win the bakery stix, he’s trying to win whatever the good prizes are.

Yeah… well I’m gonna go out today and get me a Bakery Stick and a slurpy for free. Nyah.

As to the OP, IIRC, after a whole show of Homer trying to get Maggie to say daddy without success, he kissed her good-night and left the room. In the darkness, just before the credits, Maggie does indeed say “daddy”. Unfortunatley, while all the rest of the world was privy to this moment, Homer never heard it.

Or I could be wrong, that’s just the way my remaining brain cells recall it.
