I never doxxed anybody

@aspenglow, here is where I’ll defend myself against moderation.

In the recent thread in MPSIMS, I wrote about the shock discovery that the new woman I’d been on 2 dates with had previously been an adult film actress: I discovered it by happenstance, in a way that I’ll forever find humorous, and so I shared the story here.

But I was also filled with tremendous angst, and feelings of jealousy, that I was trying to reconcile with my excitement about meeting a very attractive, and completely down to earth, woman.

And so I continued to post, and at one point, as I sort of went from being uncomfortable with the idea to becoming sort of proud of the idea, I posted her performer name.

Now, the thread has since been closed, and that’s not what I’m disputing. I’ve told my story - I got over myself, we just had a nice romantic getaway, and we’re dating. Keep it closed.

And I also hear that some people called what I did “gross”. In the moment, I was all in my emotions (seriously, I was completely unproductive at work that day), and not thinking with the best discretion, so I completely understand that feeling. I have to confess that it was a bragging thing, and an egotistical me doesn’t come across in a good light.

For that, I am sorry.

But I was also accused of “doxing” somebody.

I did no such thing.

The name that I disclosed is an actress’ screen name. You can go to the Internet Movie Database and look it up, and find several movies listed. It does track to naked pictures, and adult films, but you’d have to go looking for those - I just gave the name, and a simple google search would give clothed pictures.

Nevertheless, it’s the name of a public figure.

It also doesn’t track to her real name at all. And you’d be surprised at how little a natural beauty who wears little makeup and glasses looks like a dolled up starlet. Even when she dresses up and is glamorous, she has a fairly generic white face, and was never so prolific that people recognize her from something she did a decade ago.

The closest you can get from looking up this screen name are connections to Florida, where she and I currently lives. But it’s a quite populous state. And that’s about it for personal information.

So, I get why posters would call me an asshole for what I did. But it wasn’t doxing.

“Here’s my new golirlfriend, and here’s what she looks like fucking!” Yeah, gross doesn’t begin to cover it.

Are you certain that knowing her stage name isn’t enough to find her real name, since you said she had imdb credits (if I’m not mistaken; I don’t want to slog back through that thread)?

That’d be a fair cop if I linked to a porn film. I linked to a name. And if you did google search that name, you’d find modeling photos. Clothed modeling photos. At most you see her cleavage.

If people are looking for more, that’s on them.

There are zero hits when you combine the two names.

I can’t understand why you felt the need to share that stage name.

Come on man, this just feels like another opportunity for you to brag to the board who/what you’re dating.

Again, come on man, you announce you’re dating a porn actor and then post her porn name. This is quiet begging to have people check out her work.

I’m closing this until @engineer_comp_geek has a chance to review it.

I’m seeing attacks on the OP and I suspect the OP might be bypassing the closing of their thread. Don’t start any other threads related to this until @engineer_comp_geek does decide if this one is OK.

This is all related to this problematic thread: So I found out the girl I just started dating used to do porn
