I passed the Bar!

Good Lord, I passed the AZ Bar Exam! Just got my letter, and just called my folks. And, man, I’m still freaking out! I PASSED!

A small part of me still thinks it must be some horrible mistake. I took the Bar last July and failed. I was supposed to take it in February, but my job allowed me no time whatsoever to study. I knew that all of my law school buddies were working, pulling in some serious cash. And here I was, a poor schlub trying to manage a group home (or three) for developmentally disabled folks. Sure, it was nice, and I got a certain level of job satisfaction, but I had just been in school for seven years, and I wasn’t working in my chosen profession.

This time, I took a class in how to take the bar. I thought that, even if I passed, nothing would make me feel better about failing it the first time, but I was wrong.

Because I not only passed, I KICKED ASS! I have to look way, way down to see those average scoring folks.

Woo hoo!

P.S. If anyone wants free legal advice from me, you can kiss my ass. I can charge now! Woo hoo!

P.P.S. Woo hoo!

Congrats. I remember waiting for the NY bar exam results to be posted on the bar examiner’s website, costantly hitting “refresh” over and over…and seeing my name on the list. It’s a nice feeling.

Now that you’re a lawyer (yeah, I know, you’ve gotta be sworn in and do a lot of paperwork to make it official, but for all practical purposes you’re in), be prepared: everyone hates you. Even your own clients. Nobody likes lawyers. Except, of course, when you save someone’s ass. Then they like you for a few minutes. Then they get the bill and go back to hating you.

Sweet!

(I got a year to go myself. Eeep!)

Congrats. Now you can say “IAAL” in all those law-related threads. But don’t forget the disclaimer “This is not intended as legal advice, consult an attorney,” etc.

Congratulations!!

So, are you gonna add an “esquire” to your name?

Tripler
Just curious. . .

Cogratulations and good luck.

Congratulations!

And didn’t stop for a single tequila shot? :wally

You should have gone into the pub & toasted your success!

Many congrats, Siddhartha Vicious!

Thanks, all. Yes, I do plan to use “esquire.” I’ve been using it since I was eleven. Why stop now?

And Dewey, since when do people dislike lawyers? I thought we were revered as almost God-like. Well, I’ve been hoping anyway.

Bosda, when I told my dad I passed the Bar, he said “Well, there haven’t been many bars you haven’t passed.”

Wait, I screwed that up. He said something like "Well, you haven’t passed many bars. " Or something.

Who cares? I’m a lawyer! Woo hoo!

Congratulations and welcome to the profession. I can’t believe it’s been seven years since I was where you are now. . .

Here’s a little advice: when somebody says, “It’s not the money, it’s the principle,” they’re lying. Run, do not walk, away from them.

I can honestly say that I revere Zappo as being almost God-like. I have to because he knows my address and he could track me down and hurt me.

Congrats all the same! And don’t ever let us catch you doing those cheesy ambulance-chaser commercials. They’re embarrassing. No self-respecting Doper would ever do anything embarrassing!

Congratulations and well done.

Congratulations!!!

Now that you are done with the “hard stuff,” you get to sit back and take it easy. And start in on the REALLY “hard stuff!”

Good morning, Counselor, and congratulations. One piece of advice–the first rule for avoiding legal malpractice is never do anything for the first time. Also never say to a client, “I’ve never done this before.”

That’s wonderful, Siddhartha!! I don’t get my results 'till November 8th, so be looking to congratulate or console me soon.

Happy for you, brother!

Now FCM, d’you think I would ever do that to the person I revere as almost Goddess-like?

Congrats!

Again, thanks all.

pravnik, when did you take the bar? I took mine in the end of July, and I thought I had to wait a long time. I can’t imagine having to wait until November.

What the. . .?
